Every time I used the flamethrower its always the weakest weapon I have by a very large margin, even if its fully upgraded. It does like 1/5 of the damage of other weapons.
All these crappy, "I do medicre damage, in some random fock knows what direction" weapons, that at level 15+ gets outperformed by a level 1 weapon, because it has the BASIC FUNCTION of "I actually shoot at bugs".
The game was balanced for DRG, after a fashion, so they seriously ruined the driller by making the NPCs all increase in health like Vampire Survivors. This isn't a survival game so much as it is an extraction game.
The enemy should all honestly be slower so that you can play strategically. This is where the driller fails, frankly. I can drill fast, woohoo! And then on every side of the map there's an endless void and traversal options ceased to exist with DRG.
The driller also sucks because he takes LONGER to kill a loot bug than any other character, once he has mining upgrades. Anyone else picks faster, driller just drills normal speed and his speed-up to get his drills going is just as slow as ever.
I hate basically everything about the driller in DRG:S, I love the driller in DRG, but here you may as well ask me if I want to cut off both of my feet before I walk to the store. No?
I know it's a matter of opinion and others may disagree with me, but the Driller's default loadout sucks, their position at the end of the line (last unlockable) makes it seem like they should be able to do SOMETHING better than other classes. Drilling resources, presumably.
I can more effectively drill as the engineer, by such a wide margin it's practically insane. I've ended up with an empty island with not a speck of rock for most of the entire map with turrets and krakatoa turrets both capable of mining (not my favorite upgrade, but it was super effective.)
As it stands, the driller's drills take too long to spin up.a control is added to spin the drills before you approach a rock wall or ore deposit might make the driller less onerous for me, personally. The idea that I need to push my car up to the lip of an off-ramp before I'm allowed to get inside it and push the gas peddle is bad and Fred Flintstone shouldn't be allowed to design game features.
So idk. As a digger he's great. But the problem is that you also have to fight bugs. And he sucks at that.
It was a fire damage + Beam damage build.
It was still way weaker than the kinetic damage I've done in runs.
