Until the Praetorians and Exploders come rolling in saying "Oh, we arent going to have any of that now"
I don't think they should change the shooting-forwared, though.
While I've managed to clear some stages with forward-firing weapons, fighting bosses - particularly the last boss - is EXCRUCIATING with such weapons. The only way you can viably use them is run ahead, point back and then stand there like a lemon - and then every time the last boss jumps at you, you have to run away and reposition AGAIN, losing valuable DPS while you do so.
Meanwhile I can pick the M1000 (which targets the highest health enemy) and Boomstick (closest enemy) and just run rings around the last boss while doing crazy DPS. Why would I intentionally choose to use a difficult and not very effective weapon over an easier, more effective one? Gunner is my least-played class because of this and it makes me sad.
Early game, you can get by, but once you start climbing the difficulty levels it becomes tedious trying to run and turn to fire at the mobs - starts to sap enjoyment from the guns and classes that rely on non-seeking ammo.
As for the rest, you can "line yourself up" so as to face the mobs' direction when mining as well as drifting around their edges so as to let the minigun still graze'em at an angle, but even so I'd expect to do more from such a condition.
Also IMO Praetorians need to be Resistant, not IMMUNE to knockback.
Wish that the warthog didn't move on it own that it's static in place so it's better to aim with.
