Tips for killing the Dreadnought?
I've made about 12 runs at this point, and almost always made it to floor 5 only to die against the Dreadnought. I've figured out how to dodge its leap attacks- not always successful bc terrain/swarms, but in theory- but I can just never seem to do enough damage to kill it before I get bogged down by the swarm or get hit by the leap twice and die.

Tips for passing the DPS check? Am I just doing something wrong? I'm doing all the important stuff (mining as much as I can, synergizing weapons/upgrades, etc).

Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated!

When he stops he is about to jump. When he stops do a 90 degree turn and he will miss. Other than that he's pretty easy.

Do not waste time mining gold or nitra on stage 5 it's useless at this point (unless you are running artifacts that scale dmg with Gold/Nitra), other materials are fine for upgrades.

Rush objectives and pop dreadnought early, you will have less enemies if you do this.

If you still fail with the above your build was no good or you just take too much dmg or a combination of both.

I just aggressively pursue weapon upgrades over anything else to get the overclocks at 6 and 12. I will spend gold to reroll if I don't see a weapon upgrade, and I save all my nitra to upgrade the weapons that are closest to overclocking between stages. Generally by the Dreadnought floor I have enough DPS (on Haz 1-3) that I'm clearing out the eggs well before the progress bar wakes them up automatically. Never had problems with Dreadnought since. Some weapons are notoriously bad (Crispr Flamethrower) and should not be prioritized for upgrades though.

Clear the elites asap, then spend a bit of time preparing an area, clear out the rubble so you have space to move. Using the resource pod can be handy as it'll wipe about 50% of its hp off when it lands on its head but it can be tricky to time it right.

Other than than, just run around it in circles and remember to change direction when you see it stop and prepare to jump.

Scout unlocks are all you need. Make sure you reach level 12 on any available weapon to unlock overclocking for that weapon on all future runs. An easy scout build(if you can level high enough to unlock the sniper start option where your starting weapon is the M1000 sniper rifle) is the M1000, Cryo Grenades, Shotgun, and almost anything for the 4th weapon(personal preferences are the plasma rifle, electric ray or electric drones). Get burning ammo overclock for M1000, and the -10 accuracy at the last rank to make it more of a shotgun style weapon to compliment the actual shotgun. Best Cryo Grenade overclocks are 3 smaller grenades and 30% bigger explosion, and any element ammo for the shotgun + 50% increased range. You'll melt the Dreadnought pretty easily and consistently.

If you unlock overclocks for the other classes, you then have the chance to draw them on classes that they don't normally belong to; levelling Gunner is much easier when they get lucky with Engineer turrets at level 5 and can afford to turn their backs to mine while turrets keep up the pressure.

You basically just need to do runs to unlock classes and weapons, playing only the scout alone won't get you weapons to mix and match into your builds. Play every class, even if you fail, because you can unlock weapons and overclocks. Then later on your builds can synergize with your upgrades.

Luck stat matters for doing multiple runes, it makes it more likely you'll net a legendary upgrade by chance, which could give you a big boost for your build.

Push to get a level 18 overclock if you can; it's oft as good, if not better than two stable overclocks. Many unstable overclocks basically just go "you shoot twice as much now".

Also make sure you have at least one, maybe two suped-up non-AOE weapons, like the M1000 or the Minigun or even the turrets. Focusing on AOE makes a lot of sense when we're fighting hundreds of bugs, but the Dreadnaught needs something that will prioritize it with focused fire.

I disagree. If you have an easy time clearing other foes around then the Dreadnaught is a piece of cake, even if you have low single target damage, as it is very easy to dodge when you don't have to worry about nearby enemies.

100% crit and you just run short circles around him.
Vault Traveler Feb 19, 2024 @ 5:24am
Its kinda a dps check, if you can not easily kill him you really need to grind more or use a different setup

For those who don't know, you can use the drop pod call to half the final boss hp.

Yup, drop pod best gun in game. :airstrike:

Or you could use the drop pod to get 0.5% crit per nitra, spike your crit and melt him faster than it would take to kite him to the pod and drop it on him.

It's roguelike OP there are no tips.

It's only about damn RNG. :estusempty:

They should remove the hiatus stuff between two zones, and allow us instead, to waste gold and nitra to improve the tier of the cards we get each lvl.

The passivity from roguelike really annoys me. It's only there for the devs to think "we should add a MTX stuff so those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can get good bonuses from real money"

+Let's be true about that... Wehere's the fun to waste your resources only to reroll cards? Can't even call that a "mechanic" it's not a real choice.

While upgrading a card to a better tier IS a real mechanic and thus a real choice. Even more with the artifact that boosts your dmg the higher you gold stack is.

The rng is giving me a violet dmg card? ok i spend 50 gold and i get a legendary dmg card.

I'm pretty sure that kind of roguelike would never be born without the plethora of mtx we have in video game nowadays.:MHRISE_anger:

Dunno why no ones said this yet, but MOVE SPEED!!
If you don't have at least +10% you can't realistically move away in time for his pounces. You might dodge the first one or two, but after that the big boi will be too close and you wont have time. And that's not even considering the extra speed buff it gets if you take too long to kill it.

These are the stats I had on my last Haz3 run where the boss melted in seconds. He only got 2 jumps off.
