game is way too hard
i've unlocked hella stuff now and I still can't kill the dreadnaught on haz one on the first dive. what is up with this super high difficulty and slow progression?

edit: I beat haz one but I still think that haz 4 and 5 are really overtuned and the amount of dead-end weapon options and combinations is not fun. only allowing specific combinations to work and throwing the wrench of rng to make or break a run is no bueno. having the recent round of weapon buffs was nice but I still think more needs to be done.

Game is winnable on your very first run at haz 1.

I killed the dreadnaught before any meta-upgrades and with no overclocks (right at launch the starter gun didn't come with OCs already unlocked) and no secondary objectives. You need to focus on splitting your time between killing bugs AND mining/secondary objectives. If you don't mine enough gold/nitra you will be too underpowered kill the dreadnaught fast enough and if you let the horde get to big you'll get overwhelmed.

Manage your time between those two objectives and you got this. Since you already have secondary objectives unlocked I assume make sure you do those, they are worth a bunch of gold.

You can definitely win on Haz1. For the other difficulties and conditions, doing runs and unlocking more modifiers will help immensely.

after about 2 to 3 runs and you begin to level your scout and unlock more weapons it becomes a lot easier. As others have stated, be on the lookout for nitra/gold and kill in between. Also doing the secondary objective on each deeper dive floor nets you a decent amount of resources. if you aren't buying alot between floors or always having to use gold to get health back work on on farming and avoiding damage more, It will come to you once you find the right balance. I sometimes get too deep into killing things and realize i didn't farm, then do my best to at least do secondary objective while kitting around.

I focus on reload speed > damage > health/mining/move and seems to do me pretty well. And the boomstick for second weapon is a great choice.

this is tough because all the weapons are so weak i can hardly kill any bugs. the only success i've had is with the gunner weapons. nobody else i've tried can kill bugs faster than they spawn

Utilize the bugs against themselves, I like to focus on mining/secondaries (good XP for early levels too) until I have a few exploders mixed in to the horde and can use them to help mass clear. Healing in this game is much easier than VS, so don't be afraid to take a little damage if needed to set of an exploder chain reaction - and the more you do it the more you'll get used to how to do it without any damage.

Definitely isnt. You got nothing unlocked, and you will get overrun. OP is correct, this game makes you feel extremely weak with no clear power. I played for a few hours and at no point was I able to run into mobs, I was always in kite mode. Especially after those exploding bugs come out, almost no weapons have pierce so you cant even touch them while the trash is tanking shots in front.

And yeah I know how to play VS-likes, offense is best defense, I realized I gotta focus on mining and completing secondary objectives like find the flowers and stuff. Its not enough, the damage of all guns is just pitiful.

I wouldnt say the game is hard, it just fails in creating a power fantasy. I dont play these games to constantly run away from enemies, I play them to run into enemies and blow them up

Have you played Vampire survivors or other survivors-like game?
This game seems difficult but not impossible. It's about positioning and knowing what upgrades to pick.
The progression upgrades in the main menu are just minor upgrades to make further runs easier. The bulk of the heavy lifting is done by what upgrade choices you make and how well they synergize with your current run build.

bro. get the timing down for the leap, angle the way you DONT want to go, turn and run the way you do when it starts its animation. ez pz.

IMO, best thing to focus on is luck in the passives. Everything else basically wont be missed. Luck will start giving much epic and legendary upgrades.

Worst guns are forward shooting. For many reasons. The minigun is powerful. Just think about the time you spend running away, dodging (not shooting straight even), mining/digging, etc. These for starting weapons suck. This game is seemingly heavy for kiting and you cannot kite them backwards... .

Overclocking is sad cause you need it to stand a chance on higher difficulties. So you play to unlock it and just fail that run cause of it.

Difficulty 2-3 has been seriously painful. I'm not sure if i will beat difficulty 3 without going insane. Exploding bugs are making my weapons look like toys.

Yeah, I'd just try to get more comfortable with kiting and make sure you do your secondary objectives so that you have the cash to upgrade your weapons. If you're wasting upgrades on stuff that isn't weapons, the game can definitely be hard, but I've 100%'d all of the Haz 1 and Haz 2s so far. Just learn the mechanics and practice kiting. Use rocks to your advantage. You'll get better at it

No, he's right. I cleared my first run. No upgrades, no unlocks. It's possible. That's not normally supposed to happen in this genre, but I've played enough of these and the demo to know exactly what to do.

low quality bait.

I guess I'm just bad like the OP because i can't complete a run either. Super frustrating game to be honest. The massive swarms while I'm trying to kill the dreadnaught are basically impossible, I just get totally overwhelmed. Electrical damage for the swarm, M1000 and shotgun, decent move speed, health etc but I just can't put up enough damage to kill the dreadnaught before the swarm gets stronger and stronger and totally overwhelms me. On the verge of just giving up on the game, super frustrating to keep losing 20 minute runs to this nonsense where you clip its hitbox and it does 100 damage.

It should not be this hard to finish a dive on the lowest difficulty, game is overtuned.

I killed him on my 2nd run in the game. . . I do understand that the game doesn't explain much but the scout is one of the easier classes to play. Try playing gunner whose main weapon only fires in one direction (forward) and see what bad game design looks like. . . Weapons like these in roguelites tend to be very powerful because of how limited they are in use but the thing doesn't even kill bosses. It's pretty friggin bad.
