What do the damage types do + other mechanics questions
cold obviously slows, but what is the difference between electric, plasma, fire, and acid?
what is "overkill damage" (from the sharpshooter class)
does over %100 crit do anything?

Not sure what Overkill Damage means as I've not the sharpshooter class unlocked.
Increasing crit chance over 100% gives you a chance to do "double" crits.

thank you

My question is, does more fire mean a bigger dot? My driller affliction builds seem to be incredibly bad, where-as my direct damage builds do just fine.

From what I've heard, the flamer is just extremely bad at the moment.

Given how exact all of the damage values are everywhere else, it's just odd that there are no details on elemental damage. For example, you have the option on some guns of a %25 damage and reload increase, or converting to fire damage. Will fire add an equivalent amount of DOT, or is it a waste?

Cold's not good. It's good for one thing, and that's slowing down the flying elites so you can mine more while you kite. That's it. And the elite is random so there's zero guarantee that you'll even need it. And yet freezing the exploders makes them not explode until they thaw and that is a BAD thing. You WANT to control the explosion to nuke the mobs. Freezing actively harms your DPS and survivability. Do not use it.

Fire does jack.. Cold makes it super easy (Intra hasn't stacked enough cold together) since you can get all elites/bosses to just sit there while you kill them... Electricity bounces around and Plasma bounces off surfaces.

Cold & Plasma are definitely the best two right now with Electricity almost being there. Fire is just completely useless unless you like tickling the bad guys?

"fire does jack"

It's a DOT that does spreading damage, similar to electric. You can treat them about the same.

I don't need to freeze the boss, I DPS it, why would I waste a weapon slot / overclock on freezing the boss when my DPS build kills it in seconds?

Electric also increases crit chance and damage.

Depends actually, it changes how you control the mob. Personnally, I see the frozen exploders like pending assets, I move to the side of the mob and get the not frozen exploders to explode or make a hole in the wave and then circle it and stack it to the unfreezing exploders. But I agree that sometimes it can put you in trouble.
