the bigger question ( that affects a lot more people ) is why do they think they need to aim?
do they not understand most weapens have different priority targets? some weapens aim for the closest enemy, others for the 1 with the highest HP.
so manual aiming isnt needed, you have to pick the right weapens, so they complement eachother and have diff target priorities.
i think its more a matter of people wanting this game to be just like the original DRG, and not realizing this is a completely diff genre of game. it only has DRG as the theme.......
Vampire survivors has weapons that attack based on your position and movement which is not aimable like the other games listed. If you think otherwise show me you aiming a weapon like knives so it fires somewhere that not dead ahead of where you are walking.
Having 100%'d Vampire Survivors, uh... no, no you can't. None of the weapons in Vampire Survivors give a damn about your mouse cursor. They're all auto fire and they all auto aim. They have different rules about what direction they aim in, but none of them are "twin stick" style aiming.
If you can think of a weapon in VS that you can aim independently of your movement, let me know. It does have weapons that fire forwards in the direction of your movement, but that's not the same as aiming.
Soulstone Survivors does have aimed weapons, but its enemy projectile spam is so heavy that it stops mattering after about 3 minutes (I'm also 100% on SS). SS also has forward weapons.
Now back to DRG:S
DRG:S is a bit more on the "autoaim any direction" style weapon, in that it aims at the nearest enemy (which you can control to a degree), but it also has the pistols that don't even do that. They shoot in four directions, don't care about your facing, and don't aim at anything. Everything else that I've seen is "target nearest" (which VS also has, though SS sorta doesn't).
But as we haven't seen any class besides scout to any degree, uh... don't know what to tell you about how their aiming (or lack thereof) works.
(And I have not played Halls of Torment, An Ankou, Brotato, or 20 Minutes Till Dawn. Based on my 30 second lookup: Brotato is an autoshooter that targets nearest. Halls of Torment and 20 Minutes Till Dawn are not auto-shooters (but may have some weapons that are auto-fire). An Ankou I'm less sure about; it seems that it has an auto-aim feature and that it's terrible because it only ever targets nearest, even though the game doesn't restrict the player that way.)
VS is genre-defining because it doesn't actually have that feature. That's...kind of why it is its own thing separate from arena shooters...

You're thinking of a different genre, probably twin stick shooters. This is the same genre as games like vampire survivors and brotato to name some off the top of my head.
Some weapons also have 0 ways to aim them like garlic or bible in VS.
In brief, i would like to be able to take the control of some of the weapons YES... (feels a little too auto/passive for my taste in that state) to have something to optimise (beside movements) and be proactive.
Like clicking on a weapon in bottom bar with whatever button i want it to be at (right , left, middle, or thumb1/2 if needed). with that i could take control of the grenade when enemies are packed, if aligned the M1000, target big bugs with shotgun in front, or target exploders efficiently... to make the gameplay/strategy more interesting!
Having some weapons on auto and some manual (if wanted) should give this game a good balance in this genre (arena rogue-lite survival shooter) IMO. It would be difficult and not useful to have all of them manual, but switching between could be a great mecanic to spice up the playing style and iron the little corny bit of the swarmz quite good. =)
How is it possible that people are so invested in such little things?
As if their lives depend on it, they discuss nonsense that in the end is of no interest to anyone.
Either you like the game (demo) or you don't.
Wawawa autoaiming *insert random insult here* blablabla - probably sums up the whole thing best.
