I feel the playstyle of gunner is to create chokepoints and then let the enemies die in front of you.
Also the more upgrades you get on the gun the better it is. On my second run I would tear through waves without even moving.
It might be just a different way to play the game ya know, high risk high reward for standing still
Why would I waste my time playing Gunner with close to zero resource collection capability due to its design and have my overall game progress grinding to a halt? I can just play other classes and enjoy steady progression.
I'm going to agree with this. I kind of felt the same way the OP did at first, but after a short time I found that you could get into a super satisfying rhythm with the leadstorm. You can choose which directions to cut your paths and position yourself to fire directly down to the throat of the elites and take them out SOOOO much quicker when you have some semblance of control of that weapon. Having other weapons that autoshoot to compliment is icing on the cake. I'm find that this gunner class is something I'm enjoying quite a bit.
overall, I found several things that I thought were design "mistakes" in the first hour or so of play that suddenly started to click after while and make me start going "Aha! THAT'S why it's that way."
Honestly, I'm having more fun playing "Deep Rock" than I have had in a long long time. Still some issues for this game to work through in early access, but I think they're on to an addictive little game here.
As pointed out, Gunner as a class at the moment is not properly designed to fit in THIS SPECIFIC game due to its unique mechanics.
Its also literally nearly impossible to kill the Bosses when you need to dodge chaff all the Time. The Game needs some Option for facing in different directions while walking so you dont shoot random Swarmers all the time.
Wanna know how i see it? The devs have been balancing classes for a decent amount of time, then some noname came in, played for 1 hour, and already knows better than them that "Gunner as a class at the moment is not properly designed"
It hasn't even been a couple of days yet. Your post is nothing but whining.
Typical knight in shiny armour. Move along, please. I'm glad you don't represent the devs.
Yup, this is what it comes down to. Having a weapon that can (somewhat) reliably cut a path through weaker enemies in front of you is amazing when you need to get some distance to the big horde. But ofc it does come with some drawbacks that you gotta play and build around.
