Gunner design is poor
Why do devs of bullet hell games keep insisting that it is fun to have weapons fire only in the direction the character is facing? Let me remind you that you can't mine resources with a hand sticking out of your a ss and you can't shoot through obstacles. The weapon is not even that powerful, and barely does more damage than any other multi-directional-auto-aiming one.

I am really struggling to understand this logic... In a genre where you are being swarmed from all directions and have to be moving 99% of the time, a weapon that is unidirectional. For the love of God, why?

Other devs make it so you can at least aim with the mouse, but they've added mining here so that doesn't work, so why insist on having this stupidity?

In my opinion, this class needs a complete rework. It is not properly designed for this game due to the requirement of mining and the inability to aim without attachment to movement.

Why is it that modern devs keep insisting that games be a chore and not a form of entertainment where you can just have fun?

alright bro can you chill the game just came out xd
I feel the playstyle of gunner is to create chokepoints and then let the enemies die in front of you.
Also the more upgrades you get on the gun the better it is. On my second run I would tear through waves without even moving.
It might be just a different way to play the game ya know, high risk high reward for standing still

Hes a bit harder when starting with the minigun for sure but it IS a powerful weapon, one of the few i could run into swarms with and cut swathes right through but that was with OC. I feel like i played 5 or 6 hours yesterday, got everybody to around 12, cleared haz3 on each biome. Havnt tried all the weapons or OCs yet

For me the gunner just doesn't feel good compared to the scout or engi... In my opinion it's always a poor idea to have a 1 direction facing weapon, main reason why I never pick the daggers in Vamp survivors. I plan on giving the driller a try when I get the chance but yeah the gunner has felt the worse as of right now and I really don't want to play him to unlock his other kits. The weapon might have the ability to mow down waves but I think backing yourself into a corner and waiting is pretty boring and the engi just does it better it feels like. Maybe there's some magic to it to make it fun?

The need to face your enemies make the game way more tactical and challenging, Instead of just running away and w8 until boss is down you need to manage your movement, timings and terrain to fight. I like it really much. It feels more realistic, too.

This game is about collecting resources not killing enemies. This class is perhaps good for "tacticians" like yourself, but it does not fit in this specific game due to it having major mechanics in the form of mining.
Why would I waste my time playing Gunner with close to zero resource collection capability due to its design and have my overall game progress grinding to a halt? I can just play other classes and enjoy steady progression.

I'm going to agree with this. I kind of felt the same way the OP did at first, but after a short time I found that you could get into a super satisfying rhythm with the leadstorm. You can choose which directions to cut your paths and position yourself to fire directly down to the throat of the elites and take them out SOOOO much quicker when you have some semblance of control of that weapon. Having other weapons that autoshoot to compliment is icing on the cake. I'm find that this gunner class is something I'm enjoying quite a bit.

overall, I found several things that I thought were design "mistakes" in the first hour or so of play that suddenly started to click after while and make me start going "Aha! THAT'S why it's that way."

Honestly, I'm having more fun playing "Deep Rock" than I have had in a long long time. Still some issues for this game to work through in early access, but I think they're on to an addictive little game here.

Then play other classes, what's the problem? Some people like gunner, some engi for example. We don't need classes with the same tactics and gameplay, it's boring

I knew someone would come with that type of comment. I could tell you to play other BulletHell games that require no mining so you can use your tactician skills, but what good does that do? If you have no useful contribution to the discussion other than "don't play it" then just move along.
As pointed out, Gunner as a class at the moment is not properly designed to fit in THIS SPECIFIC game due to its unique mechanics.

What are you doing? the moment i stand still on level 2 or 3 the bugs just come from the other sides and close in. Also with Time the Praetors destroy most Walls.
Its also literally nearly impossible to kill the Bosses when you need to dodge chaff all the Time. The Game needs some Option for facing in different directions while walking so you dont shoot random Swarmers all the time.

Why did you even come here if you can't have a constructive conversation? Your ridiculous response only showed that you want change simply because you want it. No one here is interested in your ego
Wanna know how i see it? The devs have been balancing classes for a decent amount of time, then some noname came in, played for 1 hour, and already knows better than them that "Gunner as a class at the moment is not properly designed"

It hasn't even been a couple of days yet. Your post is nothing but whining.

Pardon me? You have added zero contribution for this conversation to be constructive. "Devs know better" is your constructive conversation contribution? Or was it "don't play gunner"?
Typical knight in shiny armour. Move along, please. I'm glad you don't represent the devs.

I don't think it will work since you can only mine facing the object and mining is everything.

Yeah yeah gunner is so bad that I just got my first ever dread kill with him. Didn't even get anywhere near with scout.

Yup, this is what it comes down to. Having a weapon that can (somewhat) reliably cut a path through weaker enemies in front of you is amazing when you need to get some distance to the big horde. But ofc it does come with some drawbacks that you gotta play and build around.
