Classic Scout and Hazard 5 Salt
So I have run into a REAL roadblock here with trying to reach LVL60 on the Classic Scout here. I've gotten the other two cogs just fine but I just can't seem to find the right setup with Classic Scout to survive long enough to reach LVL60. Like, when I beat the biome it was with Tinkerer Engineer with a full Plasma build but unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be a thing that Classic Scout can do. Oh, sure, they can get one Plasma weapon but the others that aren't outright Electric or Cold don't appear to have Plasma Overclocks (or if they do, they're about as rare as finding a unicorn).

Anyone got any tips or am I better off waiting a bit for some balancing tweaks?

As an aside, the levels I've gained for the Scout class itself; do they have any real meaning? Like, outside of achievements unlocking new weapons does a Class LVL1 Scout have worse stats than a Class LVL2 Scout?

Finished it yesterday multiple times after few experiment builds. There are 3 ways to do it and all of em about ignoring 1st weapon (similar to the engi demo)

1) shotgun -> cryo -> whatever you want (I got m1000). Hardest one for me, wasn't able to kill boss. Constantly lacking of dps. Prioritize shotgun upgrades, get some reload cryo + split or explosion radios overclock. First gun penetration overclock is a nice choice too;
2) m1000 -> cryo -> whatever you want. Prioritize m1000;
3) plasma -> cryo -> whatever you want. Prioritize plasma. Once you get plasma t3 it is haz 1 basically.

The last option prob is the easiest and boring one. Also you don't really need cryo grenade, cuz it is kinda annoying to trigger explosive bugs when they suddenly freeze, so you may just go full crazy and prioritize plasma.

Remember that you can always use supply pod to kill elites on a first two levels if you want. I tried to avoid that, but I kinda stacked moving speed. Try to get as max xp as you can during first two levels. Even without xp bonuses I had like ~25, ~36 got plasma t3 at stage 2.

Also tried to go full memes with all cryo weapons but the dps was so low, lmao.

Again, the problem is not the classic scout, the problem is the first gun. It is not bad, not good, just decent, not balanced around haz 5 imo. Unlike engies demo primary gun which is super trash to me.

Don't recall exactly how I did, it but I remember the Cryo Grenade doing a lot of the heavy lifting, with a bunch of electricity weapons for damage.

I am stuck on this too. Reason? Every time i get a good weapon combo the game bugs out. Either the game crashes or the end dive elites vanish so you can not kill them and then you just get overrun as the droppod never comes down so there is no safeplaces to stand.

But i just see it as a challenge i may or may not beat in time.

Boomstick is pretty essential for this one, as Azula mentioned. The damage is a big part, but the knock back also keeps you from getting hit by the rolly-pollys as often.

im just copy pasting my post from another thread if you dont mind;

"I never liked the Classic Scout especially not in the salt pits. Didnt make a screenshot because im an idiot, but i think i ran around in this build(only one magnet came up wich i couldnt get at the end of phase 2, full trigger );

Deepcore GK2 (eletric, piercing)
Voltaic Stun Sweeper (xp gain,range)
TH-0R Bug Taser(reload explosion,reload speed and damage, beams and beams)
Arc-Tek Cryo Guard(+3 drones)

Focused on XP gain and reloadspeed(two lucky legendarys early) and obviously heavy eletric damage, highest leveled gun became the Bug Taser at the end with i think around 22.

Tipps and Tricks; Use the Pay2Win Console at the first supply pod, GGEZ.

Just joking, stall out phase 1 like a maniac and use the supply pod if you lack early damage to take out both elites at the end.
♥♥♥♥ will get hairy but you need to do it, i would recommend not to leave until at least lvl24. Use the red salt crystals as late as possible.

I would try to abuse plasma/electric that can clear the masses of bugs with the limited arsenal the scout has. Squeeze some luck or good XP gain perks in on level up and between the phases, dont waste your gold on green +damage or movementspeed and then cant afford the legendary.

You can still grind it out with some builds and this one too, especially if you have slow drones or the cyro granades but keep them at a lowlevel, you will need to get high weapon levels to kill the elites and the dreadnought at the end.

Obviously there is always some luck involved, i had a mega run going(legendarys left and right) and got hit 3 times from one big rolling bug bouncing around getting a cute little lootbug what made me really really angry, and i think from a mapdesign and gameplay perspective the salt pits are pretty awful, but still good luck to you guys." :steamthumbsup:

For me it was Cryo Grenade > M1000, the slow from cryo really improved the survival chance of kiting around bugs. Once i hit the last overclock on cryo, i had an easy time surviving and leveling the M1000 for boss dmg.

Well tried literally every weapon on classic scout and I feel like this one is even harder than level 70 any class azure lol...

Best runs are with m1000, drak, boomstick...but all depends on upgrades luck and artifacts luck

several times got 50-55-58+ levels before dying...

Had only H3 mastery on biome, so did the H5 mastery just for case :)

So outside biome +xp you have literally nothing to help you, unless you get 1-2 xp upgrades(I usually get 0, if 1 then super luck,...2 amazing luck, not sure if I even got 3 at all there)

So, currently after X tries I came with what worked best for me...

get m1000 as 2nd weapon...get it to lvl18 asap(ideally in 1-2 floors, max at start of 3), get fire OC, get reload OC(dmg/fire rate..both good), get sawn off

get cryo grenade as 3rd weapon for "cc" and helping you farm during "end of stage"

get boomstick as 4th weapon, this is necessary for floor 4-5 since usually you dont have enough aoe/dmg to take out mini mobs and can end up swarmed

Ideal state:
get grudge artefact for +10% xp which works multiplicatively, and atleast 1-2 +xp% upgrades
focus on m1000 mainly, 0 upgrades on gpr if possible, cryo granade get first OC(ideally 3 split grenade), boomstick get max first OC(reload speed one), getting projectile upgrades, pick up range, movespeed, mining speed

artifacts:
get crits on nitro or golden bullets or less hp more dmg(atleast one of these three, ideally 2 or all 3)
getting reload artifact is very helpful too

on m1000 increase fire rate, reload speed, dmg, potency, some status dmg can be picked too

Increase HP as much as possible(while not denying too much dmg), mainly if you have the less hp more dmg artefact

finally did it now and even got +3 artifact when was lvl61 already...
