I find a balance usually works.
It is not too low from the start. It is a challenge if you never raise it.
But you should always try and get mining to 20%+ So you can actually kite stuff through normal rocks.
As the foreman i manage to mine out the entire map on stage 5. There was nothing left but bugs on the entire map. 77% movement speed with ~200% mining speed and pickup radius where in the 250-300% range. (not a single dmg artifact sadly except for nitro to crit one but i did not get nitro mining until stage 5 and by then i had already mined out half the map)
Only emitter was level 18, acid grenade where level 12 as i needed to unlock OC on it,plasma pistol was level 6 with the pull tech and starting weapon was level 1. Killing bosses took ages. But at least there was plenty of space to use!
You should have enough levels to get weapon upgrades too unless you rush the levels and kill the boss as soon as he comes out and you use the drop pod to kill it. Avoid that if you can.
Learn to kite, then you don't need speed. No mining speed or movement speed is needed at all besides from the main upgrade screen and ofcourse if you take -50% movement artifact then yes you want some.
Bugs crawl towards you, so circle around them. Don't be afraid to take a hit once a while. You'll see the game becomes a lot easier this way.
I have actually been killing the boss asap with the drop pod every time it spawns, and it does feel like I am not having enough 'levels' at the end of the dive. How should I be doing it instead? Should I be dragging it out in the lower stages like 1-3 to try get more levels? But then dragging it out makes the monsters stronger and more swarm which can reduce my health on the way back to the pod too.
I have only managed to beat all the haz 1 so I am trying to see how I should be playing to increase my chances at anything about haz 1
Try to drag out level 1 and possibly 2. But Dragging out level 1 as long as you can without taking too much damage will help you a lot in the end. Try and end the first dive on level 20+ Or at least 15+. It all depends on what weapons you have tbh. If your starting weapon and first weapon choice are bad then drag it out as much as possible and then use the drop to kill the boss when it gets tight. If you have good weapons you can take the drop as soon as it comes.
