Useless Overclocks
As title says and there are alot of them :2016imnotcrying:

First thing for all the "game is too hard" folks: You dont need overclocks at all if you got the "usual" setup (about 70% or more crit chance and the Nitra=%dmg multiplier item so normal shots do 1000-2000 dmg per shot instead of 100-400 because of the double multiplier...).
Setting that aside

No matter if I got that setup or not overclocks should change the weapon or vastly buff them at unstable level. However many overclocks just dont do much, they can hardly be separated from normal upgrades.

One example I just had at my last run was that electric scout beam pistol with less than a second reload time: One Overclock was +1 beam and the last overclock was +3 beams so now the magazine size is 5 instead of 2. With a reload of less than a second that doesnt really matter i probably got like 0.5 more beams out per second on average for an overall increase of 3% dmg and even without reload speed upgrades it doesnt really do much.

The other one was the cryo grenade which "pulls enemies before explosion"... more like makes them shake for 0.005 sec without really moving them. No need for that.

Where are the exciting upgrades? Im talking grenade launcher Nukes, Rapid fire until my game crashes, 1% crit chance for 10x crit, slow fire rate with +50 bounces and stuff like that. :goldvein:

So for now I really couldnt care less for overclocks and look more for crit chance, dmg, armor, early %xp or mining speed, especially movement speed.. and as long as I got that nitra=%dmg upgrade thats a win. Anyway R&S !:pickax:

The Cryo grenade overclock at 18 is actually really good. It coupled with increased radius and the grenade splitting up to three is really good at both CC and damage. It's one of the weapons that can help several classes finish Hazard 5 reliably as long as you can stomach the explosions filling your screen.

Don't know if I've ever overclocked the bug zapper, but all the others that give you +1 or more beams mean at the same time. So in theory you should have been doing up to 500% damage vs normal.

Try the m1000 and the boomstick.

There are plenty of OCs that could be more interesting. The ones like "+15% damage, +25% reload speed" are like... really? That's almost a normal upgrade.

I'd love to see them come up with more ways for OCs to change how weapons work!

3 beams on Krakatoa is OP as F.

But yes, some Upgrades are just below a normal legendary upgrade and just above an epic one. While others are just in the common area of usefulness.

I imagine there will be more significant OCs in the future, considering many weapons don't even have 2 lvl 18 choices, and many that don't still share that single OC they have with another weapon.
I hope once more OCs roll in, that they'll have more interesting effects. A good example is the "+30% damage, -30% fire rate, +piercing." It's a simple OC and a lot of weapons get it, but it's a good give-and-take that alters the gun's strength in a meaningful way. I'd almost want that OC's effects to be multiplicative instead of additive like other upgrades, to really slow that fire rate down, but also really crank that damage up to make the piercing all the more effective. (Edit: scratch that. That very OC is in fact multiplicative, and it seems most/all[?] OCs are, which indeed makes them much stronger than general upgrades, that are all additive)

Like, a Drone OC could be "Lose a drone, but your drones are A LOT bigger." A single drone could be a bug roomba, just plowing through the swarm rather than hitting one creepy crawly at a time. Less effective against elites or the Dreadnought, but that's an interesting choice to make: Do you value having more room to move, or potentially killing a big thing faster?

I can see that! Would still not prefer a mere CC with these specific conditions to maybe be helpful. I like to compare the setup you metioned with the gunner :praisesun:thunderhead:praisesun: but that one with pretty much any upgrade. That weapon so far has shredded dreadnoughts for me in seconds every time I got it.

Absolutely that ! I have nothing to add.
