While we all hope and wait for official support, here are my results:

CrossOver 23.5 with D3DMetal disabled - Runs great.
Parallels - Runs well.
CrossOver 23.5 with D3DMetal enabled - Runs and playable but everything is in slo-mo.
Whisky 2.0.1 - Runs and playable but everything is in slo-mo.

Machine: MacBook Pro 14 with M1 Pro

I don't believe there's any plans to create a direct port for linux or macos. They are making efforts to optimize the game for proton and subsequently the steam deck.

If CrossOver runs it great with D3DMetal disabled, Whisky should run great, too, if you toggle on DXVK for the bottle.

That said, would also love to see a native macOS version.

do you mean the $99 annual fee for the developer program? if that's the only thing standing between us and a native port, i'd actually take one for the team and fork that over. but you and me both know it isn't.

I would happily pitch in as well... I really hope a native Mac port might come at one point, the game is perfect for it!

Just tested the early access version on CrossOver 23.7.1 with D3DMetal & MSync, no more slomo, works perfectly!

Search for the YouTube channel "Pirate Software" for a video named "Mac Support", and you'll see a short video about why it's not likely.

(Note to the Steam moderation team/software, I'm not advocating for piracy, "Pirate Software" is the name of a youtube channel that is about game development, not software piracy.)

this video has been making the rounds since its release and i don't understand why some people think it's a strong argument against mac ports. this guy's view on xcode is just a personal opinion (by someone whose games are unremarkable from a technical standpoint) and the notion that sub-$1000 hardware and a $99 annual fee are financial dealbreakers for anyone but the smallest of indie studios (which is not the case with DRG) is ridiculous. and yes, i completely understand the economic decision of not making a port for the tiny share of mac users on steam. i just think this guy's points are pretty weak on their own and completely irrelevant when talking about this game.

How can the mac share increase when they don’t develop for Mac? The new M Macs are easy capable of placing most of these games, performance like. Developers needs to prio Mac more.
