Food, water and Ammo Sales
So customers come into my shop and always go to the single gun display, they buy the gun then go. This means I have to take a gun from my triple display and put it on the single display. NO ONE BUYS WATER OR FOOD AT ALL. They, on a rare occasion buy a box of ammo or use the toilet This is not very balanced at all.

I have the same problem with food and Water, but ammo is ok. about guns, they dont buy randomly, i mean if i keep feeding the displays everytime a guns is bought, the next customers will buy the gun i put on the place of the guns that the previous customer bought. looks like they follow a pattern instead. idk if its a bug or a feature. I have a problem with NPCs sometimes they spawn and stay there as hang doll, no matter what i do they willl stay there forever in that save.

From lots of testing, it seems [for me anyways] that the customers will ONLY buy food/water if I have no guns or ammo for sale. They'll try and go to a weapon/ammo rack, give a disappointed gesture, THEN they'll go to the cooler or vending machine. If I have any guns or ammo on sale, though, they'll never buy food/water.

Same for me, I just don't make the ammo stall and dont make guns and then they start buying food and water.

Once I'm in a good place, I do though because having to manage the food and water is a good way to get money, but the fun part is making the guns. There isn't a job for employees to restock those things, so I think its probably better that once the ammo stall opens, the rate at which people buy those things drops. Otherwise, there just isnt enough time to pick up the candy, look for gun parts, refill the ammo shelves, refill the shooting range, go gamble - see what I'm saying? I think its a balancing thing and a solution is just to not build the ammo table until you're ready.

I'd argue that you should let the player dictate their pacing. I do all that as well, and I still have plenty of time to go and stock food/water whenever they ARE empty. It's a gun-builder game, yes, but it's also a market sim. Markets aren't supposed to be 'fair', it's up to the person running it to find the pacing that works best for them and balances effort with money earned. Not only that, but through level ups, there are a LOT of ways speeds can be improved. Fastening times can be increased, walks speed can be increased, even gaining the ability to use the sprint key is an ability.

[Side note, for anyone wondering why there's a keybinding for 'sprint' but noticed it doesn't seem to function in-game, it's because the ability to sprint IS, in fact, a skill you have a chance to gain through level up card draws. it'd be nice to have known that so I didn't spend several hours thinking my game was broken, lol.

I say the shoppers should come in with a pre-determined 'shopping list' and check to see what items are available. If they go to 1 of the 4 'containers' for what they want [gun, ammo, food, and/or water]. The player doesn't know what the customer wants until they go up to whatever respective 'container' has what they desire. If nothing is there [no gun, ammo, food, or water], the player takes a reputation hit. Only by making sure you have everything stocked at least a little bit assures you can go without losing rep.

side note, why are you going to the casino during the day? It's open all hours....just go at night so you no longer have to worry about your shop if that's 'too much' to handle.

I was wondering where the sprint went!

I agree with all your points.

I played the earlier version and then I came back and played this. A lot of improvements have been made. A part of me feels like maybe its too easy now, so when people say I'm not making money fast enough in the beginning, I just think...well, remember when the service shop wasn't a thing? The point though is, which is more fun? Is it enjoyable to really grind and earn the end-game set up which requires optimization or is it better to maybe have less stress and have more options which doesn't require as much. I don't know. I like the service shop a lot, I like doing the merchant aspect of the game, but just try not opening the ammo table and experience how fast water and the vending machine get sucked dry. Its like 1.5 boxes of food a day and 4-5 bottles of water when you include the toilets.

Though, if they were more profitable, I wouldn't mind, which is where you bring up the point about buffs. They're really slow though. I've got to play a long time to feel any different in returns if I'm only getting like a 1-3% increase in returns every few level ups.

Maybe the levels should require experience caps instead of continuously growing in xp requirements.

I didn't know it was open at night. Thanks for letting me know.

And don't 'quote me' like that. It makes you sound mean spirited. It is a reasonable point I brought up. You doing that makes it sound like I'm crazy or that only an idiot would feel that way. I am neither.

You're absolutely right. I jump the gun like that because I'm used to getting flack just for simple suggestions or questions...the exact thing you asked and I now reacted to in the same way I hate.

In short, my bad. Sorry about that.

I know what you mean, I really love the service portion as well. Sad part is, since I did the game along with the tutorial, I' mkinda stuck with having the ammo table now. x.x

Yeah, I've noticed the internet has gotten really mean in the last few years, especially reddit. Not like 'ill kill your family' mean, but like passive aggressive mean and it is just going to make it very hard for people to make it in life if they're like that. It also puts us on edge and makes us defensive, me included, so I get it. Its no problem man. I'm just glad you were receptive to my boundaries. Most of the time, people will just double down and get even meaner because they feel that they're pride has been wounded or something. Not everything is some ploy at humiliating people.

You're cool. And I mean, if you like this game this much, you're double cool.

I've restarted like 3 times, its not that bad. Maybe just not restocking it would do the same thing. My reputation is awful, but I can save money by not hiring employees. So, for me, its just the food/water/bathrooms, the maintenance service, orders, and the firing range. I also learned not to just buy every part that's cheap because I'm a hoarder and will blow every penny that way. Which means I run back and forth a million times per in-game day.

Appreciate that, friend! Be the change you wanna see is how I try and live. You just remind me that defensive isn't always needed. <3

My problem is that as much as I love a game, restarting is such a pain for me. I always hate having to re-earn, especially a game about collecting. I like my collection of things. As such, one of the few ways games can trick me into replaying a story is by offering New Game+ options.
Abyssmal131 Dec 8, 2024 @ 5:37pm
Yeah, that's fair. I think its more an obsessive thing, but I keep replaying games until I find a comfortable strategy, and once I do that I pretty much stop playing.
Like Elden Ring, I've barely been to the Altus Plateau, and I have like 500+ hours played.

For Rise of Gun, once I'm rich and things are easy, I just don't feel like playing anymore.

Well, good talking to you. I gotta go. Take it easy.
