Please fix this, I want to choose the lang as well
As for quality: It's always hard to understand who messed up, i think in most cases you could blame the publisher/developer, who often only give out-of-context snippets to their translators, and not enough material to reference from, often because they fear bits of story to leak, which is a valid concern, but especially with small projects i often get the feeling that they just hired the first amateur who was willing to work for a case of beer and a pat on the back.
Did you ever hear about the translation of TES4 Oblivion? It was so bad that it was hilarious. The potions had their names shortened in really cryptic ways, like "Gr.Tr.d.Le.Wi" and crap like that, and the fireball spell actually was a healing spell, but there was one i find especially memorable: [light spoiler] When you have to give a ring to countess Millona Umbranox your character dialog would say something like "take this, it is a gift from the stranger", in the German version they didn't translate "gift", probably because the context wasn't clear, and gift actually is a word in German, meaning poison/venom, so you told the countess to go kill herself with some poison you got from that stranger over there... yeeeeah, right. Oh well, i should really get into translating things, i'd hit publishers over their head with their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, maybe i could make the world a better place that way.
Out of curiosity, did you give the German translation a chance (beyond these two words which are due to a bug rather than poor translation)? Because it this case, not only the developpers gave lots of context and freedom to translators, but a lot of care went into adapting jokes and humor to each country, and translations were made by true fans of the series.
Anyway, I completely respect and understand your choice of wanting to play the game in English. There is currently a workaround that works on Windows, and Replay Games have promised a patch in a near future that will allow players to choose their preferred language.
need a refund, steam is wrong telling french is supported
Ah, yes, the French... Always trying to keep their language pure and safe from outside influences. I hear your people are very proud of their language.
French subtitles are available in the game. They're simply difficult to access if your operating system is not set to Frenc.
