I have the same question. Created a player, saved the editor data but when I load the game I can't chose editor database or any other besides the default one. Anyone knows how to do it?

The database does not change so you will always use the default. When the database is updated by SI as it does annually in the new year that will then give you a choice of databases.

When you use the editor and save it a small edit file is created.

Upon starting a new game it has the select database screen and under the line "default database" it says something like number of editor files enabled 1. You can click change to go in and enable/disable the edit files you have saved.

The game enables your saved editor changes so it should be done automatically.

You can have multiple edit files enabled or merge them in the editor.

Of course you need to start a new game to see the changes.

It was exactly the same in FM13.

It's not working with me. I saved the editor file, but upon starting a new game no select database screen appears. I go directly to the choose country screen, I see a "database editor files" tab (not sure how it is in english, i'm playing it in portuguese) but it's greyed out and clicking on it does nothing.

Maybe I have the editor file in the wrong place, or the game? My game's installed in D\Games\Football Manager 2014 and the editor file is in my documents "Sports Interactive" folder (default saving folder).

Please help :(

OK. I'll try to be as specific as possible.

Firstly, any data changes done through the editor can only be applied to a NEW game.

If you want to make changes/add players or whatever to a current save game you need to buy the in-game editor which is PURCHASED through the downloads button of the in game main menu.

When using the normal game editor make sure you remember to SAVE the editor data before quitting out of it.

Open the game. Select NEW CAREER GAME > FOOTBALL MANAGER

The very next thing (before you select leagues) is a box appears called CHOOSE DATABASE.

The current database is the defalt one and there are no others to select.

At the bottom of the box it should say EDITOR DATA FILES 1 ENABLED (1 in total)

This is your edited data file - the changes you have made and saved.

If you have more than 1 they will show up in the total.

You can click on the ALL box in the corner to select which of these you want to apply.

Once the game has been set up - that's it. You cannot use this editor to alter the game.

As I said you will need to purchase the new in-game editor.

That's exactly what I did, and no choose database box appears. I'll try again, thank you for the post :)

EDIT: It doesn't work for me, sorry :(

Tell me where i'm supposed to keep the editor files. Is it in the default folder the editor uses to save them? Should I change my game directory as well?

Has anyone had any luck with this issue? The same thing happens with me. The game goes straight to the 'choose nations' page and the "editor data files" is greyed out

sorry for highjacking this thread... plese forgive me, but I thought you might be able to help me out.

Has the original team settings been edited since the game came out? or are they still waiting for the january transfer window to close?

I am asking because, well I have yet to buy it, and the team I want to play as, got a major overhoul in the last day of the last transfer window... I have tried to look for the infomation at other places, but to no avail.

BTW: Danish team Brøndby I.F.

again sorry for highjacking the thread, did it because I thought you might be more helpfull rather then just making a new thread.

I don't believe so. Data updates historically only take place in the new year patch.

This is what you should see when you start a new game (standard FM not classic)

You do not need to move any files around. When you save your changes within the editor the editor data files will be recognised by the game. I suggest doing it all in 1 file for ease of use.
