unable to afford to renew any contracts?
When I moved from Corby City to Brechin (Scotland division 2) I was excited, but what I didn't know was that the former manager had completely screwed up the clubs finances and I could afford no more than £5 wages, and as a result I couldn't hire anyone. Either way the club had only just been relegated due to a bad former manager so this season will be reasonably easy, but I've got a notification about how almost every single person in my first team is almost out of contract, and I can't afford to renew any of them.

This will mean, as the board is not willing to give me any money, that I lose every single player in my first eleven and most of my backup players, dooming the team to only having 16 year old academy rejects.

Is there a way I can either get a lot more money or convince the current players to have very small wages or will enough money be given to me next season (assuming I get promoted) to renew their contracts before It all runs out? More importantly would any of this work or should I just move clubs as this one's a lost cause.

You have not said where you are in the season.

This is not a tycoon style game so your influence over income is limited.

The only way, apart from selling players, to generate quick cash is to arrange friendlies with the largest reputation clubs possible.

If you can last the season losing all the players may not be so bad as it will give you complete freedom within your wage budget to sign players who may well be better than the current squad, especially released youngsters.

Otherwise you may have to put it down to lesson learnt.

Don't just take the job advert as gospel.

Click on the club information screen and look at the finances evaluation, particularly debt level.

If it is poor or insecure you may want to think twice before accepting :loss:

You can ask the board for more money, but there's no guarantee that will work. You can keep your fingers crossed for a money-earning cup draw (Celtic or Rangers away), but that won't made a huge dent in any financial problems. Depending on when the contracts end you *might* be able to renew some before they expire.

If you still have the January window to come, consider selling/loaning some players you no longer need then. You're unlikely to get huge cash offers in the lower leagues in Scotland unless you somehow find the next Messi as a regen, but the savings on wages should allow you to renew a couple of contracts. Also, don't worry too much about building a team for next season if you lose a lot of players. Every club has a large turnover of players in Scotland's League 1 and League 2, since most are only on one or two year contracts. There will be plenty of players looking for a club who are good enough for your level, and you might even be able to re-sign a couple of the players you lose on lower wages.

I tried asking the board for more money but they're not in the financial state to give me anything. I'm out of all the Scottish cups (this is with Brechin). My biggest earning player has decided he wants to go which is good, I've transfer listed him and offered him to clubs but so far no offers, but I think someone will soon take the bait.

I'm mid-table and well in first, I'm almost certain that I'll get automatic promotion back to the Scottish league 1 (3rd tier)

An issue now is that no-one wants any of my players.

Yeah, in hindsight "sell players" may not have been the most practical advice - if they're all on contracts which are about to expire, most clubs will sign them on a pre-contract agreement and wait until summer for the transfer. Are there any fringe players you could release? The board might stop you doing it if they ask for a lot of compensation, but some might agree to leave for nothing.

Ah. I've sold a few players that had really high wage budgets (for some reason they're not going to move until June despite selling them in January) so that'll hopefully get some more in. Also I've fired some staff and organised a fan day or whatever It's called.

I tried firing some staff but the board won't let me as It costs too much to fire them.
