FM2014 not launching

Ok so fun thing happened today, having owned the game since 2013 played over 436.3hrs in the game. tried to play it today after a break of three months, it don't work....

Screen on the second monitor goes black and then reverts to desktop and again, and then fails to launch and steam then says "play"

Support from steam non existent...

This also happened to Microsoft simulator 2020 after a came out after two months of playing. and took two months for steam to sort out there crap to allow it to work again. so looks like the same problem here.

So I've tried verifying file integrity,
* I've tried restarting PC
* I'm only running steam and chrome while booting FM14 (nothing else to cause conflict and this is the only game that has this issue, surely must be DRM or some steam server side of things see MS2020 issue)
* I've reinstalled from UK Manchester and then UK London (couldn't update the final 18mb, now it does this morning but still doesn't work)
* I've Repaired the file on my M.2 (not that it needed it)
* Cleared Download cache multiple times.
* Tried it in off line mode still wont work.


So I'm sitting here wanting to play FM14 the good version of Football manager, as 2019 and 2021 are not good, in my opinion

Also all the Pinned links to Si games don't work they have all been deleted by SI as they want you to play 2021, and looks like they don't care for the original Fans from the first versions of the game.

So if anyone has any idea's how to fix this let me know.

I suppose I could reinstall FM2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 if i have to. BTW FM2013 works fine.

update your'e drivers

all drivers are updated GFX, Motherboard, Processor, windows.

Also seems to have had an issue with Steam guard (which i now enabled and still not working)

just tried again still happening blanking black twice and then shutting down, every time I validate the files its always trying to download two files for "Steamworks Common Redistributables"


That doesn't fix it either, I then re validate game files integrity and still needs to download the same two files at 98%. this is on their end for sure. same thing happened with MSF2020 back when that first came out after two months of playing it.

Also tried updating this game from US New york server see if that helped and it didn't.

If you are experiencing a gameplay or technical related issue, you may want to try the troubleshooting steps such as, verifying your game files, removing custom skins & data, and where possible, starting from an earlier game save to see if you can bypass your issue. In addition, you may also want to try reinstalling the game (ensuring first you make a backup of your game saves) to see if this resolves your issue.

So seen as nobody knows how to fix this, i thought ok lets fix this. and hey presto in 5 mins and thinking about it logically i fixed it.

Basically FM2014 doesn't like 2k, and no one thought about this until i did and it has been running on 2k monitor but in 1080p.

I removed copy of the game from m.2 and then reinstalled from UK London, i cleared the steamworks folder from my Steam file on this drive too. also unplugged the second monitor and put started it up after verifying game integrity.

and have locked it into windowed mode. but for Steam and FM14 not to do anything is a disgrace for $10 billion dollar company. and Sega $4.42 billion company..... great. just great.

I am also having similar problems as well, doesnt allowed me to start FM2014, seems to be some steam cloud problem.
