I don't think that's it. I believe it is as a result of this change: "Scorched Skeletons in Ember Grounds dropped way too much XP.".
Do you know how you unlock it?
I can do a guide list of the items, its trivial to add them to your config (but this comes with temptation since the entire config file is clear text)
Maybe your playstyle or equipment is way subpar then, wouldn't speak with such authority in any case. One point of view ain't facts.
I reached 85 with the Warrior last night and don't have all the blessings or quests done.
...and 89 just now: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950209782
Now with that Exp amulet it might be well possible, who knows, I don't have it. Depends on if it'd offset the slower killspeed I get with the "+?% Damage per missing HP" amulet in the higher waves. Probably needs some tweaks to equipment as well.
Don't know about Archer or Exterminator since I can't handle the dense waves with either, but with Warrior I'm carefully optimistic that it's possible, even if it'll require a rather tight build and playstyle.
=====
I would point out that I mostly play on the first map. On the second map, I managed to get to 89 on the Warrior as well. However, that is still 11 levels shy of 100, and that is just for the Warrior. Highest on Archer on second map is 81.
I would also like to point out that being rude on forums tends to cause flame wars. Just saying.
Haven't tried out that amulet. Mostly because I stay above 80% max hp, so haven't seen too much value in it. Might work better for the Archer or Exterminator, as they get quite low hp.
I mean since it gives 0.1% Damage for each hard Health Point missing, any character will get a lot out of it as long as you purposefully stay at low health while boosting max Health as much as possible. In Warrior's case I try to stay around 100-200 Health, so I get a bonus of 130-140% at maxed out Health (1500). That alone could open up a bunch of gearing opportunities. When almost, or indeed everything non-boss becomes a one-hit, it then is about attack and movement speed I think; gather quickly, kill even faster.
Last run I almost made it to 92, was about 1/8 short of filling the bar, so for now I'm guessing it comes down to optimization, be it equipment combinations or playstyle or even just luck with drops. Don't think I have unlocked all the gear, let alone observed all the individual waves indepth.
I would in turn point out that it's no more or less rude to disagree that it is to claim authority when you don't have it. Just look at your entry post "Impossible, because look at me." Totally took the air out of the poor guy, and then clueless ol me came along and beat your stated level by a significant margin. I mean what am I to make of such a situation, other than call you out on it?
I'll grant you this though: Perhaps it's indeed not possible for now, won't know it before pushing with all we have at our disposal. However, think of later updates when more characters, maps and thus quests come into play. Before long, level 100 is going to be a piece of cake as is the nature of these games.
I think gear optimizations are most important, for the items that increase maximum health %, like the Chainmail Armor.
Well, then I apologize. I shouldn't give an authorative opinion and state it as fact. However, I do still have the opinion that 100 is likely impossible in the current build of the prelude. That might change in the next updates or so, but the only one that might make it to 100 is the Warrior.
