Question: Is this game like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown?
Hello,
I'm afraid about the simmilaries of Tales of Kenzera™: ZAU and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
What are the differences that your team could appoint about your game?
Thank you!

What are you afraid of? If you like either, you now get TWO of them!
But yeah, they look shockingly similar.

Pretty typical EA behaviour to copy games I think- it would be surprising if they matched the quality of the original.

The Lost Crown seem to have faster combat.

EA is only the publisher. They did not develop this game nor even commission it.

It's way worse than PoP TLC based on the demo but it's a fun time when it doesn't stutter. As for similarities I guess the platforming feels a bit similar and you have these trinkets that are similar to PoP's amulet system. Zau might be light metroidvania too but definitely not as elaborate as PoP.

I would not consider The Lost Crown a light metroidvania considering that it actively contributes to the genre's difficulty arms race.

Zau seems designed for a more general audience.

Yeah, what I meant was that TLC is a proper metroidvania with a bigger emphasis on exploration and combat while Zau seems to be on the lighter side in those things. Of course the full version might change that, for example there is a map among the options in the demo too, it's just not functioning yet.

This is something you shouldn't be afraid of lol. Entirely different cultures and vibes to both. PoP is a stylish action, anime and fighting game infused bombastic metroidvania with crazy puzzles and spectacular boss fights that ramp the hype up to absurd levels. ZAU is more lowkey and somber in its tone, and a bit more of a simple metroidvania, based on the demo at least. Seems like a less involved game but probably one that more people can pick up and play. PoP can be brutally difficult in comparison.

After playing the demo for both Tales of Kenzera and Prince of Persia: Crown, in my opinion, The Tales of Kenzera was a better experience. Now, as someone else wrote above, the games are of two different cultures and story, but this one was more enjoyable. This one is far more the metroidvania style, the gameplay here for Tales of Kenzera was more challenging and engaging. While I adore the Prince of Persia games on original Xbox, the newer one was not as attention grabbing with its story, whereas Tales of Kenzera is and I found myself wanting to keep playing more and hanging on every word spoken/read throughout its demo. Again, this is my own opinion after playing both, of course if you like one game over the other or both, then go for the games/experiences you enjoy and just have fun :)

Someone might like the combat in TLC more than this game's, we just don't have enough DMC style combat metroidvania.:sadkitty:

If this game even 10% less difficult that The Lost Crown, I will prefer this one. I love Prince of Persia as a whole, but The Lost Crown - even on the easiest difficulty - kicked my butt and I'm just not into games that are abrasively difficult. I tried to power through it, but I got to the Sacred Archives puzzle doors or whatever and gave up. I just don't have the dexterity anymore and everything I've read says it just gets more ridiculous from there.

I used a trainer to get through the second Ori game because I was so engrossed by the visuals and story, but as someone mentioned above, The Lost Crown's story isn't really anything to write home about and while I enjoyed the visuals, I wasn't going to bear it out for the graphics.

I'd like to preface this by just saying that I completed TLC on Hero and Immortal difficulties and I 100%-ed the hell out of it so we might be different kinds of players but...

The section where you gave up doesn't really depend on dexterity and it's more of a logic puzzle that you can find in a point-n-click adventure game. The timer isn't displayed because you have to hurry or do something super fast, it's there to help you with synconizing your movement during your 3 tries.

In general the game is designed in a way that if you see something like a brutal platforming section then chances are it's not part of the critical path. It's worth doing them since you usually get rewarded with Xerxes coins but the game gives you more than enough coins through other means (mainly the side mission where you have to hunt down soldiers who lost their minds). On top of that there are lots of accessibility options, for example there's one that just lets you to skip platforming sections.

If you struggle with combat too then again accessibility is king and through the custom difficulty option you can basically make yourself invincible and the enemies into absolute pushovers. I'm not saying the game is not hard because it absolutely can be, it's a wonderful return to PoP's challenging 2D roots in that way... but it's not hard if you don't want it to be, you have plenty of options at your disposal to dumb it down into a walking simulator if you want to.

The story is good btw but I don't want to spoil anything and the plot does have a problem with getting going. Basically you're allowed to have an opinion on the game's story once you did the second bossfight against Vahram, until then the game doesn't give you a lot so it's pointless to even talk about it. The lore is excellent though if you like digging into that kind of stuff, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

You should look up the definition of patronizing.

Yeah I know, we're on the Steam forums where it's literally impossible for anyone to not take anything the wrong way but that doesn't change the fact that the game is extremely accomodating when it comes to difficulty settings and that it's actually not that hard anyway. But then of course you can be an impatient antisocial dude, you can't customize that one in the settings sadly.

Update: I've tried playing the demo and there's no comparison between both games.
This game feels unpolished and ran so bad with many stuttering situations since the EA Originals logo.
Sadly, i'll skip it.
