And what does this have to do with this game?
Yeah I knew it was going to get gassed up on the basis of its MC, story, and location. Literally the definition of “stunning and brave.”
What you have instead is a sorta bland Meyroidvania with interesting art direction… sorta… It uses the typical Unreal Engine color palette which looks very similar to other games.
Calling it revolutionary is strictly because of visuals. But it is not. And media can now be trusted a little less.
Things will be okay. You don’t have to be so angry.
Nothing I’ve seen puts it next to Aria.
I would be slightly more interested if they considered actually giving the guy some weapons instead of generic ki blasts.
But I imagine a Belair-like saying something like, “Ooh😬can we really show a bushman with a spear?. Might offend someone.” So they toned it down, like they did with Shadow Gambit’s art style. It just looks bland.
Bro I am going to blow your mind. Ready? You think you’re ready but you’re not:
Black characters existed in video games before this.
Had no problem playing Roland in Borderlands, or Dudley or Sean in Street Fighter.
I know, I know, you really want to revise history and say that the white patriarchy only included crackers in da vidya. But it’s not true. Never was.
But, keep gaslighting and revising history. Like you do
And you just did it.
Not further questions, your honor. The defense rests.
Mm, stating that I never an issue with black characters in videos games makes you racist, and stating that black characters existed before this one also makes you a racist. Got it.
I have a really good working definition of “woke;” a person who, usually obsessively, call other people bigots when they are not.
You’ve reduced the word “racist” to a marketing tactic and have done a disservice to marginalized groups by watering down its weight and meaning. Which is pretty racist, if you ask me.
"I'm not racist. I liked Barret in FF7!" "Skate was great in Streets of Rage!" "Lucio drops the beat!!" 🤣
Companies CHOOSE to hire SBI because the companies see the criticisms we have of their games. AFAIK, SBI is just a consulting company (if they have mindflayers on staff, lemme know) which means that a company PAYS them for SUGGESTIONS, and then the company decides which—if any—to implement.
If SBI was involved, I bet they suggested Liyana's whole character design. She's freaking adorable!
Woah woah woaaaahh there, kimosabe. What’s racist about Barret? Kind of an unpopular opinion you got there. But please, explain why his depiction is racist.
Also you don’t understand why companies hire consultancies to be DEI compliant, which is on you.
Money doesn't grow on trees. Every step at which you can claim that some "shadowy entity" is giving money is because that "shadowy entity" also understands that a diverse staff is a more productive staff and are also in it for money.
Y'all are all in on capitalism until it doesn't validate your white supremacist notions. 🤡
