Before people say I'm just moaning I'll give you a little bit of insight into why 2K just don't like to admit there is an issue.
For close to 7 years, me and a friend of mine have extensively documented the online issues with this game when it comes to online match stability. Most of the issues stem from them using P2P servers, which offer absolutely no connectivity stability, especially if one of the participants have a poor connection. Couple this with people trying to use CAW's and it is just a recipe for disaster because once any shred of CAW data has a drop out, then that is it, it is a lobby warning, disconnection mid match or a complete desktop crash.
Back when COVID first started, I thought myself and my friend had finally gained some headway with 2K and the devs and were invited to have a conference call with Bryce Yang and a couple of other devs to talk about what could be done to the online side of the game to make it better and talk about what problems have plagued the online side of the game for years. At the time, top of the list for us was desync and for the most part that issue got fixed. But here we are, sat with 2K24 and we are plague with lobby warnings, the same old disconnection drop outs. It is clear that the same old servers and coding are being used and rehashed year after year and it is about time 2K upgraded to dedicated servers to house the community creations and the online lobbies all on one server to avoid these disconnections. It's no wonder this game isn't cross platform.
We have put forward multiple ideas directly to the likes of Bryce Yang & Al Stavola and it's now at the point where they don't bother to even acknowledge our emails like they used to. They need to sit and take in the numbers, which show year after year, after the 2nd week of release, the active numbers on this game almost drop by 50% and it's because people can see nothing has been fixed on the online side of this game.
The recent update, especially on PS5 has completely made it close to impossible to be able to invite people to the game, because it'll not even show them in the lobby when they join.
Instead of allowing real gamers, who want the online side of this game to be stable and fun to have an input, they're more set on inviting streamers to their HQ, a bunch of yes men, a bunch of shills, who will tweet out, stream or post videos saying what 2K want to hear so that they don't lose out on their little 2K streamer privileges.
They, like all big publishers, have no real idea this forum even exists. Rarely does a developer, let alone the publisher, ever see anything on the Steam Discussion forums...
Great place to vent
Absolutely not a place to tell a dev or publisher anything
Especially something the community wants fixed or done.
Submit all that the 2k Contact Us support section. That's legitimately the only way any of them will ever see it.
Even then, I wouldn't hold my breath...
They need you to keep hoping and coming back.
Every bug, glitch, issues we have documented has all been reported in detail to the likes of Bryce Yang, Al Stavola & Ramon Aranda just to name a few. We were in regular contact with them up until 2 weeks ago, now it's all gone silent. I don't know whether they were laid off in the cuts or not.
the active numbers for this game drop by nearly 50% after two weeks of release, year after year and they aren't really bothered.
Theres plenty they could improve year after year, as console/pc capabilities improve etc, so they'll always have room to improve something year after year and make it better. But having studied the server coding, specifically for the online lobbies, they've simply just reused the same old coding setup that they've been using for their WWE servers for close to 7 years now. The only reason this game isn't cross platform for the online side of the game(not including community creations) is simply because the devs don't trust their own ability to make it work seamlessly .
They need to take a leaf out of EA's book, even Warner, Namco Bandai - say what you will about the games themselves, but their servers work, and are not plagued with disconnects. I play UFC 5 and although the quality of the game is debatable, the quality and reliability of the servers is light years ahead of 2K's. Look at Tekken 8 - not only is it cross-platform, but it is even tells you if your opponent is on WiFi. I would advise people don't waste any more money on these games, until 2K explicitly say they are revamping the online servers in theirs advertising.
Having documented this games issues extensively for many many years, the issues solely lie with the P2P servers, the coding related to the online set up, as well as the inability of the dev team to come up with a solution that would allow for CAW and the online side to work hand in hand. Dedicated servers are the solution, but 2K don't want to put their hands in their pockets and pay for that do they.
Well, in all fairness, you can not play MyFaction without a internet connection. So the same connectivity issues affects modes across all of 2K24.
2K23 had very, very bad connection issues at launch. MyFaction was unplayable because of this. It took 1-2 weeks, but 2K did solve the issue. Grant it, they claimed it was 'your' ISP having the issue, but it was widespread enough that wasn't an individual ISP issue.
