So Alt. Attires are just broken in this game?

Made a bunch of Alt. Attire for existing superstars, wanted to do a royal rumble but picking it, besides your guy, is not option when choosing opponents.
Okay do the trick from 23, make it the default attire through edit superstars in rosters, right? Nope! Still does not work. The computers always come out in their default real game attire no matter what.
Picked Cora jade as my character and had Alexa bliss come in as three in her new alt both set to default in roster. Well number two, indi hartwell didn't wear her alt she was normal, but Alexa was Cora for some reason. She still had Alexa Bliss' entrance music but the character model was my alt for Cora jade but her entrance version.
Like seriously, why is this so broken? And is there any way to fix it? I really love universe mode and want to do a royal rumble but now I'm worried it won't do any of my alt. attires when I get there. (Note, haven't try this trick in universe yet, but considering it isn't working in normal play, I very much doubt it.

Not sure, alt attires worked for me in the beginning of the year. (I did a women's royal rumble and recorded it) and everyone came out to their set attires. They must have broke it after some time.

I had trouble with my game not saving the attires I picked when editing a Universe match card for a while. I think it started maybe six months after release and it may have been fixed for me in recent weeks (???).

its like that for very while now, i dont even remember if i ever could do it other way, it is sucks tho cuz theres no point in alt attires for mods like Royal Rumble
