GM mode is the one where you manage the "company", though what you manage is really one of their "brands", and you do so while competing against up to three other brands. You and the other players (either human or AI) take turns booking shows and upgrading equipment, and then you watch or play as your employees in matches in hopes of making more money than the competition. You have a number of objectives and the first player to complete a quota of them wins. You can use CAWs here too but then they get stuck in your save file and you can't delete them until you finish the game, which can take a long time.
Some other singleplayer modes would be:
Showcase, where you play through major moments of WWE history and unlock old-timey wrestlers;
MyRise, where you make or import a custom wrestler and play through an original story, with custom outfit parts and MyFaction cards as rewards,
MyFaction, where you spend REAL MONEY gambling on cards trying to get the exact one you need to play the current week's boss battle;
And then there's Play mode where you do a one-off match.
Last but not least and this deserves way more then an honorable mention, is the creation suite, where I myself spend most of my game time. Here you can make custom wrestlers, movesets, entrance and victory scenes, championship belts, Money In The Bank briefcases, arenas and shows, and signs which the crowd will sometimes flash in the background during matches. There's a lot to see and do here if you're a creative person, and you can upload it all online and show it off.
That's the singleplayer content as I see it. Good gaming ;)
Thank you very much for the detailed info, couldn't ask for a better explanation. I think I will actually pic the game up :D
