Cant't connect to server; Game freezes entire PC on launch
I don't know what has happened to this game within the last month but I've gone from being unable to connect to the 2k servers 90% of the time to now having my game freeze my PC everytime I try to open it.

1. My internet is perfectly stable. I have a wired connection so I don't have to worry about a weak wifi signal.
2. I've validated files three times and there's been no issue with file integrity.
3. I've rolled back two recent windows updates and it's done nothing to help with the issues.
4. I've lowered ingame settings and still it freezes.
5. I close whatever apps I have so that only the game is open and still it doesn't help.
6. Fresh reinstall of the game.
7. Reinstalled VC 2015 - 2022.
8. Updated my graphic drivers.

What else am I supposed to do to make this game run? It worked perfectly a month ago and now it's issue after issue.

What are your specs?

Also, update Windows to the latest version.
OP, tell me something, go to C:\Users and let me know if this account name has been shortened to a length of 5 characters (without actually saying your User account name here), please and thank you.

Bad on Win10 because the last three updates are broken without a fix in sight - Microsoft already knows - I had to uninstall those three updates and Win11 is trash for gaming, especially this new major update 24H2 - if OP has the problem stated above, their Security Permissions are messed up from rolling back Win versions, especially if they are not using a Local Account and using an MS Account (for the record, rolling back is not recommended if said update was not a major update - you only rll back major updates as minor updates can be removed through Windows Update). :badluck:

Yeah, my account name is five characters but it's always been five characters. As for the windows updates, I might as well reinstall them. I thought they were the problem but even after rolling back, the game is still being problematic.

Question: if I uninstall and reinstall the game, will I lose my custom CAWs; ones made by myself and ones downloaded from the community? It's the only thing I haven't done yet because I'm worried I'd lose my stuff.

I am facing this issue since upgrading to Windows 11 24H2 as well. The entire PC freezes after launching the game and this is only with WWE 2K24, literally no other game. I have to force restart the pc and hope it would work this time.

My PC has 7800x3d, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz and RTX 4070 Super and I am on Windows 11 Pro 24H2.
I want to let everyone know that MS released a VC Redistributable that I have found coincides with the DLC additions but also in regards to the actual DLC releases and personally speaking, installing the new MS VC Redistro version for 2015 - 2002 v14.42.34433.0 and removing the previous 2015-2022 MS VC Redistro's helped with a lot of my crashing and freezing issues, including but not limited to: most GPU crashing but I also had another issue which could have also been at fault - the link to the VC Redistributables below:

(Please note: You need both the x86 and x64 versions of these files, if you are using ARM64, you only need that version and not the x86); please also note to install both VC Redistro's first and then restart your PC - two restarts is sometimes needed in some instances.

So, I should remove the 2015 - 2022 VC and instead install the one linked? Both x64 and x86?

This is correct, then install both the x64 and x86 versions (unless using ARM64) and restart the PC after both have been installed, I had to restart twice but no worries.

If this helps, here are the VC Redistros (with version tags) that are installed on my system (minus those top two as I messed up - okay, all fixed): :hype: :csd3perfect:

After talking with 2k support, they wanted me to remove all instances of VC and to reinstall only the latest. Currently I only have the 2015 - 2022 version you have. Should I grab the unsupported older versions as well, or try with just the one you linked?

Personally, 2K is correct and the reason I showed you my installations was because I have all the updated versions, so to match your Redistro's up with mine and download only the ones that you need updated would be the proper course → to see the version tag Rt-click "Name" in Control Panel < Programs < Programs and Features and click "Version" in the menu. :yetuhappy:

(For the record if anyone was wondering, SteamWorks VC Redistros has every single redistribution created so the proper venue is only having 12 Redistributables - or in the case of ARM64 systems, 6 total - yet seemingly SteamWorks Redistros lack the updated VC's tis why these recommendations → Please Note: for non-Steam games, you will need the proper VC's (sometimes specific versions) in order to run the game(s) properly, although this is mainly seen with much older titles).:badluck:

Sometimes, "Repair" works and will update the current versions in "Programs & Features" but sometimes it will not work; nevertheless, you must restart the PC after updaing these things.

Unfortunately, even with just the 2015 - 2022 VC, the game still freezes up my PC on launch...

What the hell happened in the last month for this game to get absolutely borked :cozycastondeath:
blarffy Nov 30, 2024 @ 11:56am
i've now reached a point where launching the game for the first time freezes my pc for a few minutes and then runs smoothly. every launch of the game after that, it opens without freezing. i don't know if this is permanent but its a small improvement and i'm not even sure what i did to help the situation :steamfacepalm:

still going back and forth with 2k support. still no fix in sight. game still freezes on launch after previously running fine a month ago.
Just remember this: Microsoft messed up EVERYONE'S system but no one wants to believe me so that is how far I will go to help - look towards the USERS group for your solution but you don't have to believe me about this bug warrant at all.:badluck:
