Universe Mode is a mess

Where do I begin?

1. After the latest update superstars got assigned random championships for no reason at all. Thats a small problem until I saw JBL holding the WWE x WM39 Title, which I don't have since I do not own the 40 Years of WM DLC. The problem with that is I can't take the title off of him.

2. Every weekly show the AI books a main title match & a midcard title match for no reason. I did put the title match option in the match card so it shouldn't happen at all that the AI books things.

These are the two problems I encountered right now & since I put much work in my Universe it would suck to just set it up again. Universe is my reason to play the game and it seems like Universe gets more broken with every game & update.

For 2 you mean you didn’t put title match as option right? I found same actually hoping I can just edit the match and take title off the line. I assumed it was because the title was vacant that they made me have a champ match.

Yeah I have noticed the same 2 big issues after the latest patch. Before the patch even followed steps to get the universe mode setup so that every ppv is at the end of the month (to fix rivalry problem) and it seemed to work okay, but after the latest patch it seems it is now more broken than before. Every week it books championship matches. UI is bugged out half the time showing The Rock as being on the show, even though he is not on any matches. Titles got reassigned to wrong people like Blue Universal to Rhea.

Also the new titles do not have any historical data, so it looks like Seth, Roman, Rhea just got the titles.

just an absolute mess.

its a mess. i reseted my Universe twice because of borked updates. well guess its back to 2k19

Exactly that, but none of my championship are vacant. Just tiresome to skip from week to week to disable the title matches in every week.

I'm pretty much of the same thought. Best to wait for all patches before starting Universe. It's not too bad for me to restart with how I do it though, because I keep my Universe info out of the game. So I don't really lose anything other than having to set it up again.

The bugs in Universe are annoying though. They had that bug with the custom arenas that they actually fixed, amazingly. That was really annoying to deal with, I couldn't really set up custom arenas in Universe mode. How'd they miss that big bug? And I still can't set up matches properly. I go in and set how many of my custom matches and what I want them to be and it doesn't set up the matches to what I choose. I still can get random match types.

On my MITB PPV (first PPV of my Universe & a RAW, SmackDown & NXT PPV) I had the Ladder match between Creed Brothers, who were the Tag Champs at the time & Miz, who was the European Champ & Dude Love aka The Awesome Dudes (randomly created Tag Team by the 2k AI) for the European title. I tried to change it to the Tag Titles and it was still a European title match. At the end Dude Love & Miz won making them both European Champ at the same time. Gave me a good match idea for Hell In A Cell the next month tho.

I wish you could watch the other matches on the card while in Superstar mode (or maybe just some highlights, or a sped-up version of it) would add a lot to immersion, IMO. Yeah my rivalries are a mess. I get booked against the same one over and over and over, even when I constantly win, (and it's a non-championship match, with me holding the championship) plus I've had weird stuff like lockups/crashes and borked saves after a loss at royal rumble (which I stupidly booked myself in while holding the championship) stuff like that. Overall, it's fun, but is kind of a mess.

This seems to be the overall sentiment that this year's release has left the community with.

Took me awhile to pin-down why I'm not digging this year's version of the game, but overall I think it's just that I'm afraid to create anything for fear of the game either screwing with it, or outright deleting it from existence.

Things I've experienced so far.

1. Rivalries won't complete if you actually play the final match. Simulating is the only way to complete them. What I do is. Make my card, copy and paste this universe to another slot. Play one, then simulate the same results.

2.Custom belts missed up my card saves. Meaning, I downloaded the old WCW tv belt. When I slotted it into a division and made my card. Any time I would exit out of Universe mode and go back into universe mode the card would be totally different every time. Not using custom belts and starting a new universe solved it for me.

3. Last patch made it so everyone is available for every show. That makes it miserable when you can't remember everyone on that particular show. The way I manage this is by looking into my divisions and just picking out the top contenders. A sort function would be nice.

4. Sometimes managers get assigned to the wrong character. The only way I found to fix this was delete the match to get the managers to come out correctly or just remove the managers.

5. I cant figure out it this is a glitch or not since this last patch. I can't get injuries into the yellow state anymore nor can I cause multiple injuries anymore.. I remember be able to do this before this patch.

Thats everything I can think of. I've so far been able to manage most of the annoying issues without taking too much enjoyment away.

Universe mode has always been a mess. It is basically false advertising. There are no stories and so few filers that you may as well be playing lets play matches while using a spreadsheet and your imagination.

What Universe Mode does have (ie, some random cut scenes showing generic attacks etc) would be better implemented into MyGM mode and they should finally scrap Universe mode altogether.

Not everybody is a fan of MyGM tho. I don't like to manage money and compete against other shows. I like the big sandbox feeling that Universe provides, but the bugs which are in it rn, doesn't make it playable right now.

MyGM provides a much nicer interface in terms of match creation and show management, but Universe has the flexibility to make it your own (but is atrocious to use). MyGM limits creative control due to trying to tick all of the boxes it throws at you. I even tried doing a MyGM save where I controlled all of the shows and there was no AI, but it still always boiled down to doing what I was forced to due to player requests, match / class / type pairings and the big one - stamina.

Your complaints about MyGM seem to be about the mode's gameplay mechanics while the issues you have with Universe seem to be only about how you create a card. Would I be right there?
