Do I need a 2K account to save my progress?

I just got the game and so far everything runs great on my setup. I was wondering before I start doing anything that involves progressing the game, do I need an online account from 2K to save my game?

You don't need a 2K account to save your progress if you only using offline features. you only need the 2K account for My Faction, uploading and downloading wrestlers, ect.... I think it's for anything that has to be connected online to use, but I could be wrong, I haven't really tested my theory.
