So in MyFaction I don't even try to grapple downed opponents anymore because there's like a 90% chance that they'll reverse everything. It doesn't matter if it's in proving grounds or wars or whatever
I had a match last night where I decided to count the reverses... and my opponent reversed the first 5 grapples before I got one in. Then reversed the next 2. That's when I decided to quit the match because I was tried of them reversing and kicking me in the head. 7 out of the 8 grapples that I attempted on the arms/legs (had to make them red) were reversed. (legendary difficulty in proving grounds, that's where that scenario took place)
You can spam punch enemies and they won't block/reverse every hit
You can grab and irish whip them and they won't
Same goes for grabbing and doing moves when they're standing or even at the turnbuckle
The only time that they have a 90% reverse probability is when they're on the ground and you hit circle/B
That's not a legendary problem, that's a game problem. If that probability worked everywhere else... then you can chalk it up to it being hard for the purpose of being hard, but when it's only one mechanic... then it's a game issue
It was a fun challenge for many years. But eventually I began to notice that it wasn't necessarily "fun" when you both just reverse everything for 30 minutes. I realized I wanted to do fun stuff in the ring, things that you can't do because you have to build your movelist full of moves you know the AI isn't going to be programmed to reverse, or moves you know the AI will reverse but the window is long enough that you can still hit them with your quickest attack, pretty much the same build everyone uses for online play, with the shortest window attacks on spam 24/7.
Yeah that just wasnt fun after a few years of playing on legendary like that. I just play the games on normal, and only set it to legendary if im going to do a special match like at wrestlemania. ordinary matches shouldn't be 20-30 minute reverse contests, unless thats fun for you.
also, i dont know if the AI still reverses ground attacks, because I stopped using those something like 10 years ago, because the AI back then would always counter it. I still have a lot of habits of things I just dont do because I assume the AI hasn't changed much since every game is basically a copy of the last game.
just dont do the things you know will get reversed.
the problem is that we have to make our opponents arms/legs red, so if you're unlucky enough to be using a character than doesn't have a standing grab attack that targets one of those areas, you're stuck kicking your opponent while htye're on the ground. it's real slow and not consistent at all.
it's been weeks now and this problem has not been addressed at all. playing on PC MyFaction... it's nearly impossible to grab an opponent on the ground. be it a move or to even drag them. the moment you hit circle/b... the opponent WILL reverse. I tested it so many times and the AI has a 90% reverse rate.
that rate ONLY applies to ground grabs. not reversing throws/specials/finishers/standing attacks/standing punches/ground punches... it ONLY applies to ground grabs
don't believe me? go try it. boot up my faction... and go into literally any mode in it. i'm in faction wars now and so far the ai has reversed all 5 of my ground grab attempts. I literally cannot drag my opponent to the middle of the ring to try a submission finisher
there is no bug in ground attack at this game! you just do it wrong all the time!
when the opponent is lying down and you press the B button, you have to quickily press X or A in order to use graple moves or attack moves.
and if your decision takes too long to press the next button, your opponent reverse it by default.
so try my method this time :)
My guess is luck or confirmation bias. I actually had the reverse impression. When I play against AI in MyFaction, I am actually more hesitant to punch because those so often get reversed on me and find the ground grapples the safest from reversal. I do find the at the head light ground grapple to be reversed more often than all the other ground grapples.
But.... I think this may all be luck/confirmation bias.
