Ultimate Guide for the Hardest Level of the game.
Alright seen some post of people struggling with the game. So here's a few tactics and hints to get to those Blockbuster Movies faster.

So the hardest level of the game you start with a loan you have to pay off. Mistakes people always make is expanding too fast with another loan before '76.

After 30 hours here is some things i've learned.

DON'T SPEND ...
No themes
No production or post production.

Save your points for these Top 5 first.
1)Sales
2)Sequels
3) Small Office
4) Home Entertainment - starts in '76 and you should immediately buy.
5) Invest in that Home Entertainment. I went Ultimate Edition.

Around 1978 you will move and take a loan. Idea here is to set up and prepare for Medium Size Movies. YOU SHOULD ONLY BE MAKING SMALL MOVIES TO THIS POINT.

1979 - invest into 3rd party World Movies.

Going into the 80's you are now making Medium Movies that go out to the whole World. At this point i'm running 3 producers(1 being you) 1 analytics 2 Sales.

WHAT MOVIES SHOULD I MAKE?
------------------------------------
It's all up to you and what themes you start with. What I usually do is
ACTION
COMEDY
FANTASY
HORROR
MUSIC

With sequels early you can do all 5 movies w/o taking a penalty. Keep doing your rotation. At some point you will see a tiny penalty. Add another kind of movie to the rotation. I did SCI FI at one point then DRAMA. Whole point of doing this is to make money and get better movies out.

WHEN TO RELEASE?
-----------------------
Watch out for too much competition in a month. This will kill your profits. Horror during Halloween Action doing summer. Use common sense when releasing movies. Sometimes i'll click the first offer and then click through all the other offers to see the happy faces on the offers. Easy way to make decisions.

ACTORS/DIRECTORS
-------------------------
Popular means money. Sure your movie might not be the greatest but you will make good money.

But I want awards so here's a tip....
The names give hints to who the real actors and directors are. If you know you know.
This is where sequels are great with actors. Grab a talented actor and lock him into a sequel. Make Clint Eastwood play Santa 4x in a PG Disney movie.

CONCLUSION
----------------
Honestly the games not that hard. Relax and enjoy. But if you are trying to be more efficient and challenge yourself on the hardest level I hope this helps. Like many I finished the game but didn't really make any of the late content in the game. Few blockbusters and didn't even bother with a large office until the end. Then their endless mode which is for badges only.

Hopefully as the game grows and improves we can challenge ourselves and give the creators more ideas to make the game more well rounded. But that's for another thread. :steammocking:

Good tips, consider posting it as a guide
Figured I post this here.

On Very Hard what is the fastest you can get your first move done? Not the fastest you can get it but that it is possible to make the move.

Trying to figure out the fastest way to blockbuster movies and a good start is important. From what I test around Dec 74 seems to be fastest you can get the move done without going broke.

Presently testing small to medium movies. Seems like smaller movie make more money until you get a marketing team up
With the new patches and some more testing here is what 1970-1980 should look like. Keep in mind I am playing the hardest settings with a play style to get the highest score possible.

MAKE SMALLER MOVIES
---------------------------
Making medium movies seems more a trap then a benefit.
I am spamming smaller movies as quick as possible.

NOV 73 I was able to move offices. You want to take the 8 million loan and not the 20 million one. Now your office workers should be 2 sales and 3 producers.

Yep skip analytics. Other then the first movie I have no insights done on my movies. (Got it all written down from past attempts).

With 2 sales and 3 producers you can now make EVEN MORE MOVIES. Your main guy does one and the 2 new recruits do the second.

LITTLE MORE INFO. RESEARCH
----------------------------------
Early on you don't have marketing so you want that 2 sales employees and WW 3rd Party as fast as possible. This will add that cash that is much needed to survive the expansion.

And keep in mind NOV 76 is the Home Entertainment research. Get this immediately. I also picked True Cult Editions. Still unsure whats best here but Cult is 600k so its easier to buy without taking loans.

BACK TO 2 SALES 3 PRODUCERS
------------------------------------
1970-1980
I was able to release 26 movies with 3 more still in the works. That's 29 movies over 10 years. Smaller movies this fast and this many I think gives your employees more experience and also gives you more research.

So you're doing exactly this and realize your 2 sales guys are overworked. Yep expect half your movies to have them while the rest are released just like your first movie.

LOANS
---------
For your move expansion the 8 million loan should be the only one used.

20 million later on can be used if needed.

By Jan 78 you should be doing so good that all your loans are paid off.

Your next move is the Medium Office and it will cost you 75 million.

In 1980 I don't have that kind of money. 25 million at the moment. If I take both loans that's 28 million. So 53 million. 22 million short.

1985 was the quickest I got Medium Offices in the past. I should easily beat this date. More on that later.

QUESTIONS
---------------
Stuck on something? Or just confused about something feel free to post and i'll try to answer.

If you're like me, testing the game, and found and even better way please feel free to share it. Thanks.

Agreed with everything said in the guide. Also finished it on hardest difficulty with billions and everything unlocked way before the endless mode. It really is not that hard, you just need to make a few playtroughs to figure out what works best, which is fun in itself cause you do different things. For sure needs more challenging modes tho.
Lets talk about years 80-90.

I feel like I broke the code with this run. By 90 almost everything is researched. Only a few, training and scouting, are not.

And blockbusters are being spammed. Lets talk stats .......

Large Office Team Setup
---------------------------
6 Marketing
7 Producers
2 Sales
3 Analyst

Doing this I have 3 blockbuster movies being created at the same time. 2 will have my own self marketing. 1 3rd party.

So More About the 80's
---------------------------
82' I was able to move to Medium offices. Immediately I got 3 marketing.

86' I took out the 100 million dollar loan and moved to the Large Offices. At this point I could have been making Large Movies but I have been spamming only Medium Movies. Again this seems to be more profitable.

87' I research Blockbusters. Focus is now on opening all the production research for larger movies. I spend a couple of years making Large Movies until I risk it all and start creating Blockbuster Movies.

January 1990
----------------
So far in 20 years I have made 56 movies with 3 more in the works.

7 Best Pictures I believe. Feel very unlucky there.

Most money made was an adventure spy movie that made 241 million. The profit was 80 million. And I love these little bits from the game.......

Director - George Miller
Main Actor - Robert DeNiro
Support - Diane Keaton

I mean who wouldn't want to watch DeNiro as a spy with Miller directing :steammocking:

BONUS
---------
In case you haven't done this yet.
A perfect movie is possible. All 10's. Trick is also getting 10's in the Avocadometer and Sodameter. It is possible.

I’ve narrowed all of the stats for each Genre and Theme to make the perfect 10 movie everytime, but no matter what premium features always ranks B. Hunting the straight A film has been a nightmare. Also feels like putting out an A tier marketed film isn’t possible?
Just finished my best run.

With ending at 2020 I ended up with 9.3 billion dollars. Almost got that 10 Billion.

I ran 8 producers where I made 136 movies. This was less then I think thats possible as I was was doing 3 3 2 for the producers. You could easily get away with 2 producers a movie.

I got real unlucky with only 9 Best Pictures. I had a 1 or 2 movies up for Best Picture each year.

4 were Cult Movies and 15 were Classic Movies.

Final Score of 83409.
Great vision! I developed a calculator that simplifies the selection of the essential elements for your movie – theme, genre, age rating, and budget. And that's not all: now you can also take advantage of a feature that suggests movie titles based on your choices, if you want to give it a try.

Already use it. I was writing it all down and this makes it so much better.
UPDATE:

Chinawood or what they should call EASYMODE
-----------------------------------------------------
On Chinawood all your dreams come true. Want to play the hardest level of the game and have also the easiest time playing it. Well Chinawood is here for you. Sadly not much of a challenge here but if you have pesky challenges you haven't completed then this is the place for you.

1970-1980
--------------
What to research first
------------------------
Sales
Small Office - You immediately jump to small office in 1972.
Production
Sequels

Get into small office fast. Get more producers and start getting out movies as fast as you can. Sequels will be needed after you complete every kind of movie.

WW 3rd party I skipped in this run.

Who to hire.
----------------
For small office I believe I ran with 1 sales and the rest producers.

Medium offices I got midway through. Cash is not a problem on Chinawood so skip getting medium movies and go right into the medium office.

With Medium offices you should something like - 1 sales 1 analytics 6 producers (including you) 3 marketing.

SPAM THOSE MOVIES!

Training
---------
Keep it on the lowest one. Zero RP used a month. This gives you a chance to get better things like more people, buildings, marketing. etc

Training is too good at the lowest level and too expensive at the early game. Biggest mistake I think is taking training as it will stunt your studio growth.

OVERALL
-----------
1970-1980 created 29 movies and have 3 in the making as of January 1980. So 32 movies in 10 years.

Trick with Chinawood is that the cash comes in real easy. WAAAAY TOO EASY.

Small and Medium offices are built.

Medium movies are being spammed as 3 producers work on each one.

And I have 69 million still in my account with no loans out.

So if you are struggling with the game play Chinawood.
