AI Accuracy a feature?
So was just reading the community guide on this and it stated that what it once thought was a Bug is actually a confirmed feature?! That being AI ability to have inane accuracy despite the conditions or realism. Having an AI that suffer little to no factors that normally effect humans and just letting them have perfectly aligned shooting is NOT good AI. Anyone can make an AI that "Just hits what it aims at. Whats challening and rewarding is creating an AI that has to overcome the same type of qualifiers that effect people ie Suppression, being flanked or multiple angled shooters, experience l level or combat readniness etc... These are the things that make a Tac AI fun to fight against.

I havent played this game since early on and am willing to re-install and give the benefit of the doubt but if true that sounds mighty disappointing

I dont understand -are you saying that the AI is "good"?

hardcore gives them insane reaction time, idk about the standard game getting harder

Which is just bizarre to me. Paramount to ANYTHING else in a Tac shooter is -believable and accurate reaction times. Nothing matters if reactions times are inhuman -not strategy, not proper gear, loadout, unit cohesiveness -nothing. Its the one thing that must be gotten right and given full attention to -or else its just an arcade game no matter what else it flourishess

it is believable in cqb, but its absurd in long range

Just because you're having difficulty doesn't mean the AI has perfect aim or is too good. Even on hardcore mode the AI is defeatable. And if anything, the AI having good aim forces you to _not_ treat it as a video game, not the other way around. You'll need to use proper tactics because you can't rely on the AI to miss as you keep letting it take shots at you first.

When you're doing it right, the AI won't often get a shot off at you in the first place. Any time the AI gets a clear shot at you is a failure on your part whether it hits or misses. Each clear shot in your direction is a roll of the dice that you die. And that's how it works in RL, too. Don't get shot at!

If the AI keeps firing at you first before you can land hits, and the only way you win is by the AI missing those shots, then you need better tactics. The problem isn't the AI.

I havent played the game enough to make a full determination -but never complain about AI that are tough to beat due to to quality AI coding -what im against is cheap shortcuts to make AI good. As a 15+ year AI coding hobbyist -it is the single most sought after quality i seek in gaming.

If anything i want an AI as tough to fight as a person -but done the proper way, not shortcuts. If you read above you can see again that I based this off of reading the Community guide.

Ah. Well, I can tell from actually playing the game that it has some of the best most human-like AI I've seen. Now that's not a very high bar because most games (especially VR games) barely even have AI.

But the thing I noted particularly about hardcore mode was that I had to change up how I was playing and start treating AI enemies similarly to how I treat enemy players in online games. The quality of its aim is similar to good human players. And it seeks cover and tries to sneak around to flank you and stuff. Especially it will set itself up to pre-aim at where it thinks you're going to come from just like human players do. You poke your head around a corner where it's expecting you, and it will blow your head off instantly just like a camping human. Surprise it by coming from a different angle than where it was pre-aiming, and now it takes time to react, and you can get the drop on it.

Especially if you haven't played the game in a long time, the AI has gotten substantially better. I don't want to talk it up too much. It's still not very smart, but I can't think of any game I've ever played with better AI than this.

The AI is improving all the time, too. They're going to have yet another new and exciting trick in the next update!
I haven't played hardcore mode, yet, but I can say in normal mode the AI absolutely does NOT have perfect aim.

They have been missing MOST of their medium and long range shots on me. Of course, if you stand around in the open, while 3 enemies are constantly shooting at you, you end up getting hit. But if you try and make it hard for them to hit you, they seem to be inaccurate to a believable extend. They don't seem incompetent, but they also don't seem superhuman or extremely professionally trained.

hardcore gives them snipers (in effect) and they can one tap almost anywhere, from my experience
