Resource Yield
Is there a way to increase the "yield" when harvesting resources? Or is the only option to fragment to get more resources?

There is a way through the objectives. The rocket has a resource delivery quest that gives you a mining cannon.

When you cut up resources to harvest the yield drops considerably. Use the mining cannon carefully and get rid of the terrain surrounding crystal quartz and the medium sized crystals will give 22 - 26 gold per node... plus 2-3 gold for the little pieces that surround the big one.

You basically get 3 times the resources from a medium or large piece of any resource. Good luck.

Use the fragmenter or the scrapper, you only two real choices.

Cutting the ground out and taking it as a whole to the fragmenter worked out great.
