Progression got very vague (or it is not working properly!)

Got to the swamps, got to the first "special place" but then nothing is available for crafting.
The "Xpedia" says I need the next level tech, but it is not given. The available tech doesnt have the "blueprint" (intermediate fabricator).
Something is missing and it starts to feel like a "roadblock".

Yeah, it's definitely annoying not to know how to proceed. Especially when the game perhaps gives too much help on most issues - but none whatsoever on this vital one.
I recommend that you gather or create every resource you can. If it can be put in a Processor or Smelter - put it in. If you don't have those machines yet then construct them and use them. The game doesn't tell you how to craft something until you have at least 1 of every resource that craftable thing requires.
Hopefully they'll amend this, because it's been a stumbling block for many players.

I cant go further with the crafting and I started to swim around to find something else I could use, but then even in the desert all fabricators placed around the beach are "basic", no intermediate to see. Found some solar panels though.
Will add an edit in case something interesting happens.

That sounds like a real headache. I have also been through this. It's no fun.
If it helps, to make an Intermediate Fabricator you'll need to have acquired Carbon Fibre x6, Iron Ingot x6, and Silicone Wafer x6.
The iron ingots require a Smelter, the Carbon Fibre and Silicone Wafers require a Processor.
You'll need to have at least one of each of those resources to even make the machine show up in the Basic Fabricator's crafting list.

I was juggling my brain untill I saw how the alu bar unlocked some new building frames and then it got to me, LoL.
