Naval Update So Far:
Balance Problems:
So to start with steering in water while backing up is reversed compared to normal controls. (The double screw you acquire at the trader has another fake attachment point.) The starter engines/props are extremely weak and slow, and the wind/waves push you around. (have at least 6 and put them in the corners of your build for some control) The other starter amphibious blocks like the keel and pontoons are completely useless because they are way too expensive and builds tend to float and be flat anyways so they're just not needed. Also while tires can be made cheaper (though now fixed at 50%), naval parts are full price and the new naval cab doesn't give you any extra reactor to counter this.

Navigation Problems:
The rivers and other shallow water areas are completely inaccessible to boat builds with the starter props because of the way rudders are attached to the bottom of them instead of a separate part like the much better propellers you get later at the trader, this makes the nice sheltered bay where you first start playing the game a terrible spot for a dock. Other problems with navigation include a balanced techs seeming inability to move straight in the water without constant corrections. On top of all that the first water quest where you find the naval trader is a joke, sure you can find it now with the new map markers (just go North), but you have to hop your boat across the beach in build mode just to get to it since it's on land.... (there's also no loot in the silos or naval enemies in the adjacent base)

Parts to focus on at the sea trader:
The sea power prop and horizontal double screw props are the way to go for builds, allowing you to access shallow water or combine them with tires more easily. The Beam bodies are effective for balancing builds or keeping them shallower in the water, much better than pontoons. Use rudders as needed. Keels and other parts are uneeded.

More of the Same Building Problems:
Since most parts just float anyways and all the boat parts are too expensive you'll probably use almost entirely engines/props on naval builds and little else. It doesn't help that all other parts are also more expensive and the cabs all seem to have less reactor cap despite there being no efficiency anymore so you'd expect the reactor to be higher to compensate but that isn't the case. So all of these interesting new parts can only be used in a very limited and lacklustre way since there simply isn't the reactor capacity to build anything more than a tiny micro tech.

I can't even progress. Mission log says build a launcher in the basic fabricator. No recipe, checked the intermediate fabricator. No recipe.

It's exhausting. Beneath it all there is a great game, desperate to get out.

Press ESC and open Prospectors Portal menu and select different mission to track.

The enemy tech destruction quest chain gives 400+ reactor capacity cab.

To activate megastructure mission chain you need to find base that can be interacted with in the forest.

Tading posts in ice and swamp biome were changed from 0.6.2

Devs promissed next update this week. Hopefully there we be more progression available.
Any Idea where the Sea Trader is? I searched the whole ocean. Thanks
Hey OZTRON, love your videos. Select it in your missions and it will show as a pink location on your map/halo. But it's in the NNE IIRC.

I cannot find the ocean trader either and there is no pink marker on my map when the mission is tracked (except for my death location)

Thanks man, really appreciate it. Yeah Like Ainz I am not seeing it either. I have the mission selected but its not showing on the Halo Map. I looked everywhere for it. But I will check out the NE a bit more. I Wonder if i need to start a new game? I hope not.
The sea Trader wont appear if using a save file older than the 0.6 unstable-3. it should be on a small Island west of the most northern part of the Forest biome

Yeah I am on a fresh save on 0.6 Build. And I just loaded a backup before doing the S.E.E.D. mission and replayed the whole thing until I got the boat docks built and still its not showing up. Weird....
If you start at the exact location of the forest trader it's actually NW
The naval trader is on the northern most point of the island and a bit to the west, you can just see the circle highlighting it from land. Don't just try to sail to it because that will take forever with the starter parts. Instead, skip the dock and just rebuild your tech in the water once you are a close as possible, have at minimum 4 propellers and $2000 so you can buy better naval parts at the trader for the return. More money would be better though so you don't waste the trip.

It seems that the bold arcs on the edge of the map are other biomes (I think). Which direction do I go to get to the swamp/jungle biome. I found the snow biome and desert biome.

EDIT: seems like I've found 2 different desert biomes. One to the far east and one to the west. I don't think it's the same one (wrapping around the planet) as I think that would have taken too long to get there.

EDIT 2: found the jungle biome thanks to the comments in the flying thread. It's SW of the sea trader.

I believe they should really add the ability to switch crafts with just a button click. I.e. Land to sea, sea to land. Land to air etc. This would make things much more accessible.

Hello my "masochistic friend" had to start new world in 0.6.4. Original save was 0.6.2 and sea trader was missing in with both 0.3 and 0.4 updates. Keep youtuve videos coming :)

Yeah i had to start a new game and get back to where my Video last left off. Massive Pain.... But you know me I like Pain. :steamhappy: Now i am stuck trying to figure out how to get the launch pad and new air blocks.
It appears pointless even playing this game until they get around to knowing what direction they want it to go.

They had a good game, various biomes, various enemies, plenty of build options, to make a monster.

They binned it, a year into early access, for whatever they are doing now.
