How to build a Tech?
I have no clue s to how to build a tech in this game. In the last game you just picked up a cab, made it active and started building. Now I got one tech running and wanted a different. Doesn't work to have a second one. Ok, maybe the devs didn't want this game to be too much fun.
But even building my own tech is too complicated for me. You take the cab off, some invisible part is now the center of everything and I can attach nothing to nothing.
I understand that sourcing the resources is more of a grind than in the old game, fine. I can deal with that. But why is building so hard? Base and tech! And no automation yet so is more of a chore than a game. Will try a few more plays but might get my money back.

I'm new to the Terratech games completely but I've dismantled and then rebuilt my vehicle a few times now. You CAN actually save a vehicle you have made, via the Snapshot function, and then you can load it up again later. You can make a new Tech, too, and save that as your vehicle number two, or three, four or whatever. You just can't have them all sitting around at your base at the same time.

I am about to start messing with automation as I need to link my scrapper to input and output silos as I have a ton of junk to salvage. Automation is there, but to what extent I don't know yet.

(EDIT: There IS a limited form of automation ATM, enough for the basics at least. I hope they introduce more things to elaborate on it soon.)

The tech building is completely different than TT. In this game, you do not build extra techs and have them sitting around to swap to.

In TTW, your cab itself is the tech, and you build off of it. You HAVE to have the cab first to build off of.

Once you finish a tech build, you can save it in the snapshots tab, and quick load it later from your techyard.

It is not that at all. The devs do want the game to be fun. But there is this reoccurring theme that people don't seem to understand.

The devs don't want this to be TerraTech 2.0. It is different on purpose. Just because it isnt the same as everyone's precious TerraTech, doesn't mean it's not fun. It just means you want TerraTech 2.0 and this game aint that.

Well, I made a very simple automated system to grind up stuff I dump into a large silo and then output the salvaged resources to another large silo. I am pleased about this as doing it manually was a major PITA. I am getting rid of so many wheels and other surplus vehicle parts that I've looted! I may never have to mine basic resources ever again, lol.

I also now have a couple of Carbon Power Generators getting filled automatically with Carbon from their own individual small silos. Simple automation though it is, I'm pleased at least there is some. I hope they introduce more connection types, filters and so on.

Greetings

I am struggling with the build system as well! mainly due to how few attachment points a lot of blocks have, some blocks have a face or even two that have none at all ( I am aware of the F key mirroring doesn't help in all cases ) . I am sure the Min Max type of people love this game but things like cab efficiency do my head in as a casual Old Fart gamer.

Seems to me enemy tech re-spawn too fast I fill up, area is clear, go empty come back and the same tech is back. No issue with having them re-spawn though that's a good thing just wish it took a bit longer

Guess I was hoping for a kind of TT2.0. I'll just probably have to move along. :sadpanda: Early days as well so I'll keep an eye on it still. :tgrin:

F key flips.
It flips ALL blocks. But some blocks are symmetrical, so you can't tell.

How do you get it automated. You need the conduits that are not in the game at the moment. I tried to place a medium silo next to the scrapper with the right orientation so the connection ports line up but then found out I need the conduit pipes to connect them. I'd love to have some automation. Just sooooo many small wheels.

Old fart here as well. Was hoping for a better TT1 or something but they changed too much. But some devs answers under the reviews tell me that they know how bad it is and want to calm down with the weird shaped blocks and make 1x1x1 or 1x2x1 block and such more easily accessable from the start. Who knows? Just gotta log in and hope for an update.

There are conduits, just the straight and the curved ones though. The silo I throw junk into just requires one output conduit to the scrapper, then I lead four outputs from the scrapper into the output silo (the conduits look like a real botch job, lol, but they work ok) that stores the salvaged materials. That way all resources from the scrappers four output slots are automatically stored. It's clumsy, with just two types of conduits, but it works. Some T-junctions, filters and conveyor belts would be great, if they could add them.
