+1 I totally agree with the OP the present situation of having to drive your tech all over the place to get different views is a Royal Pain!
At the very least let us jump from the Vehicle Tech into the Tech Yard to make that a central pivot point for the camera.
We're disabling interaction with structure blocks when your Tech is in 'lifted' mode, which you should see in an update that's coming very soon!
Our aim is to always make building feel very drag/drop and easy/intuitive when playing, and we're constantly working on improving and updating the game. Please feel free to keep giving us feedback and ideas on what you'd like to see in terms of camera options/angles when building.
a base lock funtction and a free build cam is needed.
or make it a block to access a build drone
For example, pressing the middle key of mouse could locate the camera rotation center where the mouse pointer at.
100% the most ample description of base building in this game.
this was an excellent improvement.
it mitigates the damage you can accidentally do to your base while modifying your tech.
but it doesn't really address the issue brought by the OP.
being able to have another mode. (or perhaps an additional base add-on component)
that allows the user to switch to a "base" mode, with an unlocked camera (free floating)
allowing for camera movement to make facet attachment and building less "twitchy"
if the range of free-camera movement is limited to a space near the player's tech, that would be an acceptable compromise. (at least for me) (perhaps up-gradable in similar fashion to the tech-zone-area)
the nudge feature helps, considerably, but it's a band-aid.
thanks for the work y'all do!
edit :: hell, giving the player a tech-attachable component designed specifically for building bases rapidly might be even more fun and add to the "roles" for multiplayer.
(like the requirement for the terrain tank for the second terraforming tool and their upgrades)
