later with the terrain deformer u can just excavate everything and the fragmenter will give u more from it than any other method u could use.
It STAYS unlocked in future games, giving you a huge heads up in gameplay.
Only needs 15 refined materials to build.
it seems like they designed it to be operated in conjunction with other players.
but it's lackluster operation and use makes it a substandard option right now.
hopefully they figure out how to make it worth the effort in the future.
It's expensive, but you only have to get it once.
once it's unlocked, it can be built with 1 refined copper, 5 ref silicon, 1ref iron.
IT makes a huge difference, as you get even more than chopping them up and delivering them to the fragmenter.
Real easy too. build fragmenter right next to resource pile. drill. done.
You can drill out the whole lot and leave the boulders loose. add a silo, and then go for a walk.
come back a few mins later to hundreds of resources.
Tractor beam up front, hauling beds in the rear worked best for me.
