Prepare to face some serious face punches from time to time, dying here is more frustrating then tarkov the first times, since you always have to prepare more resources beforehand.
Resource gathering, which is about 50% is also waaaay more tedious then in Terra Tech 1. Get it, and refund it if you don't like it after an hour, gameplay won't change much after that. (I'd assume)
On a side note: quite a few of the negative reviews, and even some comments in these posts even one in here, are comparing the game to the original TerraTech. Which THIS GAME IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE.
There ARE some legit negative reviews like mine and a few others, but people need to ignore the ones comparing it to the original game since this IS NOT the original game and its not supposed to be.
I hope it'll be ironed out soon, but that's how it is as of right now and what I've seen in my few hours of playing the game.
this game ain't the same as the original, and I can respect that. But it has some work ahead of it.
Well its pretty simple. Mixed reviews because original TerraTech fanboy club thought this was going to be TT2. Since they love the first game they thought this was going to be the same but better. Dont get me wrong i love the original aswell and i clocked unhealthy amount of hours on it. But Worlds is a different species. Same concept, same universe, but a different gaming loop. And probably even a different sub-genre.
You can blast through original TT without crafting a single thing or building a single base, all the way to terminals. Here, more emphisis on survival elements. Its way more grindy, crafty, and much more about building bases, fine tuning your techs unlike lego-style unlimited building of the original TT.
So yea, those who were expecting free blocks falling from the sky and loot-pinatas from defeated enemies are not happy with the outcome. Also it is early access so obviously things are a bit rough around the edges. But it looks nice, plays nice, grindy in the begining, but once you get yourself fully established it picks up on dynamic and you focus more on exploration, fighting enemies and tinkering with your techs. Trying to squeeze some extra from the parts that you have on hand.
At the moment the game is not worth my money. I can also buy it in 6 months or a year.
Then I can also assess how serious the developers are about the product.
Does an update come out every 6 months at best that goes beyond simple fixes? Or every 2-3 months? Are player requests and criticisms taken into account or simply ignored (excessive grind is a factor that needs to be patched). I dont Play a Grindfest Game, its a Game not a second Job i Pay for.
In a year I can see which path the product takes and even buy it in a sale for a fraction of the price (not necessarily on Steam if there isn't a sale).
We still have a development team dedicated to working on TerraTech, and recently released a new corporation, with lots more content to come.
TerraTech Worlds is not an MMO - you can play single player or co-op PVE - but your feedback is welcome. We're always listening, always learning.
We also just dropped a huge update for TTW which should greatly reduce grind, especially in the early game, and give a big boost to reactor and efficiency caps, among other changes.
Yay! Update! Wow that was quick (not sarcasm).
The game is, of course, in early access - and is not finished - but it has a strong foundation its working from. In my personal opinion - they've done a fantastic job merging vehicular building with factory base building (lite) and shaking it up with a survival-like experience. I am loving the game.
Most of the negative reviews are probably from people who dont know what Early Access is, or was expecting more of the same as the original game, which this one is not. They are no longer on Unity, they switched to Unreal for better or worse we will have to see. That means lots of things are going to change and have to be figured out again.
I am in the eeeh group. The game is ok, but not great, but I can see some of their vision and hope they can deliver on it like they did with the TerraTech game. Which BTW I started playing again because of this game. The problem with that is, there are some things that are missing that the original had, but hopefully will be added soon. My biggest pet peeve is the camera when building, its always locked to your tech, which in the old game you could swap to another cap for working. So if creating a base, its actually 10000x harder in this game than the old.
It still has a lot of work ahead, adding features, fixing bugs, balancing, etc.. Just be patient and it will become great.
