How in the world does a person get that achivement? I've got no idea what a "star map artifact" even is.

my question exactly! it seems that some people already have that achievement..
my guess is explore as many planets as you can and cross your fingers

I'll give you a hint. You'll know when you see constellations.

well i've found the constellations and got the starmap achivement on a star aptly named MAPS
also the circled star was there really far away but near a star called starmaps

I've been to a few dozen stars and nothing with circles or contellations yet.

I named that planet! Neat to see that someone else went there and got the artifact too.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on with this game but it feels like something deeper than just the puzzles on the individual planets.

well acording to the global achivement stats 0.5% of the players have already figured out the answer to that question so either figure out who they are and ask the or just keep looking xD it will all probably make sense eventualy.. end hell, even if it doesen't it's still a heck of a game!

I've asked several people that have it, and all of them have no idea how they got it - they've done nothing different.

I got it on a star called ASDF. There was a key that activated a bunch of constellations on the sky and then I got the achievement as I left the star

I can verify this much, at least. I landed on a planet and there were constellations in the sky. Then once I made my way to the exit the achievement unlocked for me. I think the planet I was on was called "SHRIM7" or something.

While looking for un-named stars to explore, I happened upon "Maps". I recognized the name, so took a peek. It got me the achivement finally.

Was fairly neat to see, it being the first Constellation planet I've seen. Took a screenshot of the sky ... maybe try to pinpoint that circled star. If only viewing the planet names wasn't so tedious and time consuming ...

I saw MAPS too, but I couldn't get anything to happen. What did you do to get the constellations?

you need to get the marker key and then ping a ruined structure on the ground, but this is not recquired to finish the planet because you can just go to the orb even if you dont do a thing.
