Controller support feels a bit finicky - We hear you!
We agree with you, the controller support is not perfect but we will make a strong effort to make it shine through!

So far we understand watering, cutting and using tools is not very good on the controller ( it might not go where you want it to )
And we understand that there shouldn't be any penalty when you miss a tile (water a tile that is already watered or you miss it by accident) or when you use a tool on an empty tile!

This is getting addressed as fast as possible!
Thank you!

Edit:
___
Controller/Steam Deck QOL update is here!

  • Added auto-aim for controllers! 🎮

    • Interactions have never been smoother! This new feature ensures your tools will automatically target the correct object, regardless of the direction you’re facing.
    • For example, you can now chop down a tree even if your character is looking slightly away from it. Effortless and precise!
    • You now have a handy indicator, showing you what you can interact with based on the tool you have selected in your inventory while using a controller!

Make sure to toggle Auto-Aim ON in your settings menu if it's not on by default

I find that using the right stick helps a bit to get more precision but the system in general is not great. Frame drops and controls are my only concerns right now. Haven't encountered anything else (yet) that annoys me. Waiting for the next update. Keep up the good work!

  • Controllers now have less sensitivity when using the Right Stick for selecting tiles, do tell us how it feel! - Auto-predict and no energy charge for miss is on it's way as well - this should fix almost all of the issues

    Thank you!

Cutting rocks and trees seem to be a little bit better, but it's still pretty awful, especially while trying to water crops.

I just briefly tried this game, but the controller controls are just all wonky.

At the main menu I have to press the "B" button on my Xbox controller for the controller to be recognized by the game. Dialogues are often the same thing. I have to press the "B" button for it to figure out I'm using a controller, only for it to forget as soon as I'm done.

Say I want to go to the settings from the main menu. I can scroll up/down with the controller d-pad just fine, but then I have to press "B" before I can actually select "Settings" and then if I want to change anything in the settings, I have to press "B" first. Rinse and repeat for literally every option I may want to change or sub-menu I want to go into, or dialog bubble I want to dismiss/advance.

I also can't change hotbar items unless I'm moving.

Unfortunately, as an older gamer, the years of abuse from using KBM have caught up to me and full controller support is a must. I don't want this to come off as a complaint because I appreciate that you're a small team and there's a lot of moving parts in games like this. Just wanted to share so you can look into it. I'll keep checking back every so often and hopefully you'll have this issue sorted one of these days.

Hey there, that's really strange - and we're so sorry to hear that!

This issue does not happen to us! - It works as it's supposed to (no weird recognition stuff, or being unable to switch rows on Xbox or Ps4 controllers)

Could you please send over your save file as we have error logs in there!
This looks like it's some kind of error you're experiencing!

Discord : https://discord.gg/NJYyQyPGbU
Email : office@chonkyloaf.com

How to find and send the save file :

Go to save folder location

%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Chonky Loaf

- Copy the Everholm folder to your desktop

- Zip the Everholm folder on your desktop

- Send it to us via email or Discord with a note on which items you'd like back!

Thank you so much!

Controller support is fixed!

Please do give it a try and tell us what you think!
We've made it so that you will almost never miss a tool use!
Even if somehow you do miss, it will not be charged on your energy levels!

Thank you for your feedback!
