Magic chest

Would someone mind explaining to me how the magic chest works? It seems like any other chest, as far as I can tell.

You don't have to take stuff out of a magic chest to craft with it or give it to someone for a quest or purchase. In other words, instead of going to Fiona's, memorizing what items you need to buy a thing, going back to the farm to pick up the items, and then returning to Fiona to actually make the purchase (hopefully before closing time), you just go once and have access to whatever you need the first time. Ditto for buying buildings from Hannah. Probably the most convenient thing you can buy in the game.
