What do people like about Act V?
I don't understand. There's nothing here.
All the atmosphere from Act I-IV is gone, the dialogue stopped being interesting.
I'm just repeatedly running in circles, trying to figure out where exactly KRZ wants me to clumsily guide this cat to progress.

And from what I saw when I resorted to trying to look up if there IS a "Scene II" at all, and what I had to do to get there, it doesn't seem like there's much more closure to look forward to. What's up with this? This took SEVEN YEARS??

Act V almost ruined the game.

Yeah, agreed. Act V was a TOTAL letdown! Very short with an abrupt ending... Especially given how long we had to wait for it to come out.

Oh well...

Overall, a great game!

Actually, look at what you just said and compare it to the first four acts. You are always running around in circles trying to figure out what exactly KRZ wants you to do throughout the whole game. There is closure in Act V if you can find it, but if you don't know what you're looking for, you can miss it. I played the entire game through a few times focusing on different characters and I got different results each time. The first time I played, I thought I was supposed save Conway, so I was very disappointed, as you were, with the end. Shannon said she would try to go back and get Conway out using Hard Times's IOU, but that was all the closure I got for Conway.
Scene II is when Ron digs a grave and I believe Scene III is when they bury the horses. The words are printed out on a black screen, but I don't remember it actually saying "Scene II". If you quit out, when you return it takes you back to the beginning of the scene instead of the beginning of the whole act.

I disagree, up until this point it never just stopped dead in its tracks. It's always been pretty obvious how to move things forward.

This act is clearly the result of a team of developers that ran into a brick wall and just phoned it in at the last second. This whole game is like the TV show Lost. Just a bunch of random stuff happening to people we barely get any backstory or information on with a cheap ending because there is nowhere to go.

All I gather from this game is that a bunch of people fell on hard times, blame someone/something else for their problems, and then wander around looking for someone to save them instead of taking action to fix their own lives.

And then the game ends with a horse memorial service? And Weaver magically appearing and we are supposed to do what? Thank her for leading us through this surreal nonsense with no closure?

Not gonna lie, I lost all interest in this "game" by the end of Act II. It was clear from there that this story was going nowhere. Just a lot of artsy pretentious nonsense and lecturing. Shoutout to the people that make achievement guides though. This game is really easy to 100% at least.

I see where you are coming from, but this game is more focused on the smaller parts and glimpses of other worlds than any final absolute grand narrative. I advertises itself as a magical realist adventure and that is exactly what we get.

I get that it might seem pretentious you're somewhat unfamiliar with magical realism but it really sticks with those conventions, and the final act being both a funeral for those that were lost, a memorium for a dying town/a town being reborn is well, almost a magical realist cliché.

In the end this game is a "your-mileage-may-vary" thing, but I'd never call it pretentious as much as something modest that is made for a very small group of gamers.

Wow the comparison to Lost nailed it. Very strong start and it just fell apart. Nothing in the entire five acts required 8 years to make either. The last two were an aimless mess that gives no resolution or plot/character development. I keep seeing comments about its comments on capitalism but all I see are some people referring to "the power company" and being poor. That doesn't really cut it in a surrealistic piece like this. Out of five acts you get basically two or three nice musical scenes and thats about it. Disappointing to say the least.
