Game needs voice acting
With that this would be imo a top 10 all-time type game.

Personally I don't think it would fit – plus it serves to make Too Late to Love You in Act III all the more special. Totally a subjective opinion, though, and I know there are some other huge fans of the game here who disagree. :) The developers have also talked some about why this isn't feasible, though, and how certain text is dynamic, e.g. shows up at varying speeds, is combined with other text on-the-fly to create certain patterns and prosodies that would be very hard for a voice actor to actually do.

We do have voice acting in Here And There Along The Echo, though. :)

I think one of the devs mentioned and talked about this some in a RPS interview/article? I'll try to find the link and edit my comment.

EDIT: It seems you already posted this thread a year ago. Here's my response from there, again:

Ah, completely disagree with the voice acting part. Their voices are those I have inside my head… they can shift and change… or not be there at all… just text. If the characters were to have actual voices… well, for me, it might make the game a little too defined, its grip on this world a little too tight– rather than hanging in that liminal void of here and there, now and then.

EDIT 2:
“Our surface level treatment of dialogue was to show it as though you are maybe watching a play from a distance, maybe too far to hear the actors speaking, so you’re reading along with the script or something like that,” its writer and programmer, Jake Elliott, tells me.
While the overall narrative won’t shift, choices can quietly change future details, giving Kentucky Route Zero a subtle dynamism. “Some lines that people speak are weird cutups of these different options, the sentences rearranged at the word level in a way that we wouldn’t be able to do if we had to record everything with actors,” says Elliott.

I'd agree 99% of the time. I almost always prefer voice acting, but this one time, I really enjoyed the silence.
