Is there something that we need to do to unlock the storyline? I've already got 3 out of 4, but it has been I long time since the 3rd one and I'm still waiting to complete and receive the last one, I just wanna know if is 100% RNG or if I need to create X itens and equip for the quest appears

same! am hunting the 4th book and have retired a few times and nothing.. been farming on floor 2 for about 17 hours now.

The only requirement is that you need to be exploring any floor in School Basement. That event has like ~3.5-4% chance to appear every time a random event triggers so if you retire and stay in the basement for the next 8 hours(in-game time) after that, you can expect to get ~26 random events on average which means about ~65% chance that you will get it.

Had the same issue. Eventually after a few runs the last event just triggered.

Divination have a spell that makes story effects more likely to happen, but its rather costly and doesn't last that long unless you have ultimated Divination, best used in concert with divinations other spell that forces the next event to trigger.

So it really is just random? Well that's a bummer...
No wonder I am sitting here on my 100+ of Tails and Wings and nothing happens

Also, the longer a run is, the slower events pop up (up to a maximum of once an hour after 24 hours run)
And you still got plenty of events in the pool. inculding the repeating ones like bandits (can be taken out later), merchent, etc.

The more runs you do, the higher the likelyhood of getting such early events. the library in particutal is in the realm of "early or bust" methinks.

I got the library during a Mastery fight once, but other than that I have usually had to force it with divination or gotten it early.
