Current implementation creates several choices which make the game more active and interesting compared to just auto everything:
1. "Do I craft just the minimal amount and then risk running out of them in the middle of the boss fight or do I craft extras and then have to keep them or waste resources by selling"
2. "I run out of them during the fight, do I keep fighting with just spells or do I quickly rush to craft few more"
3. "I am running out of space and only have enough for two potions, which ones should I take"
4. "I finished the fight and still have 1 of each of the five potions remaining, do I sell them to free up the space and waste the resources I used to craft them or do I keep them"
I am at 28/92 story lines and there is no autocrafting or autousing them. I doubt it exists as crafting them requires resources and it is kinda hard to avoid wasting them on auto for one type of potion instead of another that you may need. There are so many spells that give similar effects which can be automated that potions are just a small boost which is only needed to crack some bosses and there you prepare them and use manually. And usually fights don't last very long. The longest I had took me 3 sets of potions, so it was about 7-8 minutes long. I never felt the need to use potions on normal fights.
Make sure to use Quickbar for potions. It is really helpful compared to trying to activate them in inventory. Use Favorites for spells so that you don't waste useful quickbar space on them.
Edit: Ohh, and forgot the main thing about potions which makes them not usable for Craft and drink. They require mana, so you invest some mana into potions then use those potions for free in battle. If you will require mana to craft and drink them during the battle they become no different than spells. How often will you craft and drink a potion that costs 300 mana and gives you 200 mana? Or potion that increases mana regen by 30 seconds for 60 seconds (1800 total mana) and costs 3000 mana?
So can craft 1 potion then drink it then go back and craft so fort.. with only 1 slot But can get the 15? slots quite easily now have 7 empty slots for potions with health pots already taking one slot.
7,2K mana pool with 235 regen/s can easily craft potions just before going to fight a boss. No need to save mana yet. Maybe the other ones will be more difficult
There is also Stun potion which is instant and costs 2500 mana. I doubt you will have a spare 2500 mana lying around in a boss fight where you want to use a stun to stop their devastating attack (especially when there is a Protective stun spell which costs only 990).
