What does charming do? Also, how to unlock the option?

In my first run, there was that option to charm people, when I retired, it was gone. I think it was because of the Fire element, but not sure, can someone confirm? Also, what does it do?

you can charm on several occasion. Like when you get the merchant trying to sell you a wizard robe for 30000 gold you can attempt to charm him instead for a mana cost.

there are a few other event similar to this like the water-making pebble merchant or a possible researcher/apprentice.

it's not a school or element. it's a choice.

So that's it? It's just mana over resources? Anyway, it didn't appear, the option, in my current run, that's why I was wondering how to unlock the option. The only difference between my choices was my starting element.

it has to do with your mana reserve and illusion I think.
I can always try to charm the wizard robe merchant. he appears around the time you can craft items
I do not know if it is 100% chance of success. but yes, it is basically a mana cost instead of gold cost. or risk vs safe. or gain an apprentice vs nothing happens and nobody is lied to.

Generally charming is related to Illusion. If the option doesn't appear but you've seen it before, you need to level up Illusion more.

no, u need more mana my illusion is at 1 and I can charm them but in a different run I hade it at 10 and nothing but my mana cap was only 1k so mana cap it is (sorry im dyslectic)

Charming either removes the cost of the event or gives you a discount. Like for example you can charm the merchant into giving you the water stone for free instead of paying for it. The water stone gives you 1 water per second. Not a big gain but any amount of gain is worth it.
