WTF is Focus' problem?
This is so frustrating. If Cities XL 2011 just had a full software maintainance cycle, it would already be regarded as the best city management sim of ALL TIME, greater than sim-city, cities in motion, and city life COMBINED. Have they fixed the memory leak that makes the game unplayable when the traffic simulation reaches a (very easy to get to) level of complexity? Has multi-core support been implemented..like, you know, every other game out there? Has there been any evolution in gameplay? I was suckered into a fake update by these guys once and I refuse to let it happen again. It's a shame, too, because it looks like the SimCIty series is headed in a direction that will not be palatable to hard-core city management sim fans. CitiesXL could have been a contender - instead they've been lazy and greedy.

Yep, Focus Home should be ashamed of themselves. They are tarnishing their brand by trying to make a quick buck. Lets hope they go bankrupt so this crap will end once and for all.
It s a shame this kind of products exist.

I AGREE! WHOLE HEARTEDLY! A SMALL TIME PUBLISHER AND DEVELOPER SHOULD GO BANKRUPT OVER ONE SLIGHTLY DEFICIENT GAME SERIES!

/sarcasm

You do realize thats like saying "Hey! We'll cure this cancer by shooting the patient dead!"

I mean, lord help us if you take your criticism to the developers forums, as opposed to a third party like Steam's to voice your concerns and wishes. I too have been burned by the memory leaks and the like in the Cities series, but come on! Focus does not have the resources and cachay that the larger publishers have. If you don't like their practices with Cities, don't buy it, and support the $60 dollar alternative with always on DRM when it releases in a few weeks.

I for one will be to busy playing Wargame: AirLand Battle to notice.
I'll be playing ANNO 2070 for my city building jones'.
Thank god i read this, they sucked me in aswell but now i wont be buying, -1 sale
Oh how come applejacks isn't here yet blaming the end user and defedning this PoS?

If anyone buys this and then come back to this forums saying they regret it (which they will once they see the cities crawl to a stop over 50k pop) then just remember we told you so.
Hahaha.... True that C=64! I swear AppleJacks must be the marketing person for Focus.

HAHAHAH Really? You basically just said "This game developer does not have money to make a game, so it is okay that they release this piece of crap instead". If they don't have money to make a game, they shouldn't try to release one! WTF!

Man, I argued about this with whoel community about this last year. It's rly not excuse to release this garbage, especially not all over again every year. If they bought the game, they should also set up a development team. If they have no found and/or don't want to take that risk with a loan or something, they should have started their own small indie game at first and not start with AAA game that's expensive to develop (especially in this case, when we speak about the game that's broken in it's core and needs to be rewritten entirely). Shame on Focus!
What FHI is missing is the right attitude, never mind money. I was very keen to buy Cities XL 2012 and was browsing the FHI forums a day or two before it was released, and saw someone complain they were naming Cities XL 2011 + a few new buildings as Cities XL 2012, implying it was something really new. They were told something along the lines that because it has a few new buildings, it is different from Cities XL 2011 and they could call it what they liked. And people should understand this, it wasn't FHI's problem.

They marketed the Cities XL 2012 with introducing the modding abilities. They didn't make it clear that this required extra software that was no longer available, and even if it were available it was software far out of reach of the average pocket. Again their attitude seemed to be a casual shrug of the shoulders.

This company is so bad, they couldn't support the tiny change they made between Cities XL 2011 and 2012. To fix the bugs introduced in that small change, they had to rely on people from their forum. There was a lot of speculation that the changes were just old (rejected) building left around by Monte Cristo, all packaged up (poorly, apparently) to sell.

Thankfully after browsing the FHI forums, seeing the attitude of the moderators (there was one in particular who was particularly bad), and seeing threads deleted, was all enough for me to steer well clear from purchasing it.

FHI is a company I also would like to go bust. Because every penny spent on their products, is a penny not spent on products from a company which does deserve to exist. If they can't afford to develop or maintain a game because of lack of money, lack of developers, or lack of attitude, then that is their problem. Not the purchaser's.

I've written longer than intended, and appear as if I have a personal grudge against FHI. I don't, beyond hating the attitude companies like this show to their customers.

This is not speculation, it was clear since the day 1, as most buildings had been introduced by Monte Cristo and were supposed to be released in GEM packs....

Focus Home does not have a development team anyways... they are a publishing company only. We will never see any bug fixes or actual content for any CXL title. The "fix" that supposedly went in with this edition was a user-created one from XL Nation (I believe) that they incorporated in to the game and released it as an official patch. That was posted by Tom on the CXL forums and he usually gets his info straight from FHI.
