I canceled the c++ thing in the first time setup and now it wont start. All it says is: failed to start game (unknown error).

delte the game and reinstall it, it will download again the c++ thing, that what i will if not work try to check game cache if still not work find it on google

Well, that didn't work for me, I still get the Failed to Start Game (unknown error) thing. Any other methods to fix?

verify game cache (just to make sure)

make sure windows, drivers, c/c++ runtime, .net runtime, directx runtime, etc are all updated

also post what is at end of last log file

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Focus Home Interactive\Cities XL 2012\log

to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Focus Home Interactive\Cities XL 2012.org

verify game cache (just in case)

manually run
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Cities XL Platinum\vcredist_x86.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Cities XL Platinum\dotnetfx.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Cities XL Platinum\DirectX9\DXSETUP.exe
