Is priest the best class?
After playing for a couple hours, I took at look at all the class skills, and it looks like if I wanted to do as much damage as possible, I'd pick a priest (or assassin? or sorcerer for a massive burst combo every 2 min). But then priest is the best at healing too.

Of course, I have no knowledge of high level equipments and such, so I'm probably missing something important.

Sorcerer's are the best for DPS, depeding on the build though. They have the ability to freeze their target for a couple of seconds and shock their target with electricity (with a passive skill) you can nearly kill your target with two blasts.

Priests are thee most needed class. Finding a priest for a dungeon is a royal pain in the ass. Depending on the Sorc build (and level) you can pretty much tank, dps and heal everyone.

I'm planing on turning my Acolyte into a priest when the time comes, Sekiryoku if you need a level 10 heal :P

Ok, not every instant cast skill has a 1 second execution time. THAT is what I was missing. Notably, Ray of Genesis takes over 3 seconds to execute even after you finish the 2 second cast time, making it actually pretty terrible instead of amazing. A 139% meganuke is nothing when your opponent can use their 25% damage skill 5-6 times in the same time frame.

Since you ask specifically for a "Priest", not for an "Acolyte", Priests are meant to be healers.

As healers, they are the most needed class. As tanks are. End of Story.

On the side, there are many builds for Hybrid Priests focusing on DPS and Tanking certain mobs. But, if you plan on End Game content, like this game is all about, as a hybrid you will do Ok in solo Colisseum but you will "NOT" be in demand and will be given "LOWEST" priority vs. other DPS classes in Raids. More specifically, Rangers and other DPS classes will have vastly more DPS than a Hybrid priest can provide.

Now, if you would have asked about an "Acolyte" and the potential to be a "Monk", the answer will be different.
