Character Creation Issue

When I log-in and I'm at the character creation screen, I see the huds for selecting the class, job, appearance slider, etc but the background is black and I can't see the character at all. Anyone else having/had this issue that knows a fix?

Had the same issue. Go into options and uncheck all three check boxes at the bottom.

I had this issue and fixed it the same way, but as i play the game, every time i get a critical strike the screen will flash blue or black depending on the area or if i speak to an NPC, the screen turns blue/black
Is there a permanent fix for this other than turning off effects?
The effects being on should not cause this to happen

I wish I could find a solution to this as well. I run other games I play in "ultra" or highest settings with no issues, but this game can't have those effects on without the screen turning blue. Just updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest ones (May 23 release) and still the same issue.

I actually found an NVIDIA solution to this. What I did was go into my NVIDIA Control Panel and change the global setting to "quality" (I'm not sure if that is something that has to be done), then I went into "Manage 3D Settings" and added RO2 to the list because it wasn't there. After that I just made sure everything was set to "global", "on", or "NVIDIA Recommended". After I set that I went into the game and was able to select all the boxes and it worked. I hope this helps.
