not possible. Register with steam to use steam.

As long as you dont feel its important for you that Steam clocks in your gameplay and shows to others that you are playing RO2 right now, you can just start the RO2 exe directly in the folder and play this way. Don't forget to log in to warpportal on the website and make a RO2 account there.

just a warning: steam is more expensive for the cash shop (you get 25% more from the official warpportal website). If you create your account using steam you will never be able to buy from warp portal site (you dont have the option). You will have to buy from steam.

I'm mad at both steam and RO2 for doing this... for now you can launch the game through the RO2Client.exe in the steamapps/common folder.

Someone bright figured out a procedure to launch through Steam (with overlay) with an existing account:

(caveat: haven't tried it yet myself. I have to reinstall the Steam version I deleted in frustration yesterday...)

Post by Renrawr on the WarpPortal forums:

1) Close Steam
2) Delete "WPLauncher.exe" from your "steamapps/common/Ragnarok Online 2" folder
3) Rename "RO2client.exe" as "WPLauncher.exe
4) Under the "SHIPPING" folder, set the compatability mode of "Rag2.exe" to "Run as Administrator"
5) Set the compatability mode of Steam to "Run as Administrator"
6) Enjoy!
If it didn't get flagged through Steam during your registration, you will have issues down the road with the wallet. For logistics and various setup reasons we do need to keep steam and WP accounts using their proper client and login.

Of course if you register through WP you can add RO2 as a non-steam game, but the steam wallet and the skip login procedure won't work.

If you have a WP account, and you register an RO2 account via steam with same email it will connect properly (or if you did ROSE on steam).

I don't understand why this is being done this way. I especially want to run the game through Steam because of the wallet, but I absolutely refuse to make an entire new account and start all over again because someone arbitrarily decided this would be a funny way to make people frustrated. "Logistics and varius setup reasons". The launcher runs the same client either way, there is no difference between a WP and a Steam "account" (since they're actually the same thing) in game, I don't see where the issue with letting people convert an existing account is. Or you know, just log in with it.

This is a huge pain in the ass

im going to guess since WP and steam have two different price ranges thats why they refuse to allow this to work like it should.. as to who said no to whom thats up in the air.

All i know is this if you want to support a game, you need to follow through completely or not do it at all, the whole point of steaming a game versus the normal way to to track time, friends, and the handy wallet.

Who am i to point that out though, just another person voicing their opinion.. Oh look a turtle..

PS: theres a supposed fix for it regardless on another site, i'll be trying it out tonight.
