Quake
Quake reboot leak?
Fake news sadly, but this AI re-creation looks pretty cool and gives a glimpse of what a Quake reboot in modern graphics tech could look like:

I hate 2024.

Since it's AI generated it's a bit corny, but I think it captures the aesthetic of OG Quake quite well.

AI-generated art and videos are a sin.

I love AI art. I have no problem with it. Only geriatric simpletons have issues with AI. Only a fool would think AI art would replace human-made art. I am a songwriter/musician and I use AI for song art when I upload songs to music platforms because I can't draw for ♥♥♥♥. I love Nightcafe and making AI art is very cool. I totally embrace AI tech and it has many helpful uses. People hating AI is like 90-year-olds hating on computers when they became the norm in a household. Same ♥♥♥♥ different generation. Better be nice to AI because one day it will be sentient.

Not gonna lie, that video gives me Quake 1 vibes.
Then you got Quake Champions, real people making that game, real people trying to give Quake 1 vibes in that game. I wasn't feeling Quake 1 vibes in Quake Champions.

So you got AI in some cases it can bring those vibes, other cases it can't.
Honestly if they make Quake 5, and want to be based on Quake 1, that video that AI, did pretty good job.

0:13 gives the E1M2 vibes by the yellow armor area with the water. The Blue base area.

0:18 that gives me the vibes from E1M8 the secret level. Have a Shambler in one of those spots have the ogres there and what not in those cubbies.

0:21 gives me the vibe of that level with the water and you go find the elevator to get on the beam that has 4 directions. Hated this map for some reason.

0:28 gives the vibes Citadel of the Damned, one of my favorite maps. Actually I'm Orge Citadel, E2M2. Probably the starting area because that building is off but somehow still get the vibes.

0:33 NIN, AI knows up, can't say the same about the Quake Champions developers trying to Quake 1 vibes. Those ammo boxes are on point.

0:41 that gives me some 3wave CTF in Quake 1 vibes. Good times. McKinely Base.

0:45 gives me the final map of 3rd episode I think, the one with the bridge to the portal and below is some lava area, and the vore on the bridge guarding the portal. This is not that map but probably where the portal would have taken them if we tracking these portals.

0:48 pentagram on point

0:53 can't complain about that ranger, looks legit, its not smiley go happy ranger and what not like in Quake Champions its a serious Quake 1 ranger type vibe going on.

0:59 thats how I be playing Quake 1 in the early days with my buddies, game was scary of you taking a long time around corners and what not, because the Fiend comes out, back then they were no joke pouncing all over players. This is early days of gaming, where people were more comfortable using only keyboard and not keyboard and mouse, this is when people were learning how to use keyboard and mouse in a video game.

1:00 what the heck is that, most likely what AI thinks an Ogre would look like, weird creature, it kind of resembles and Orge gives off the Quake 1 Ogre vibes, they weird fellas

1:02 typical Quake 1, Shambler standing alone like its waiting. A lot of Quake 1 you got to do something to trigger the Shambler now it moves and grunts, but before the trigger its like a deadly silience and you are in awe of this creature, and YOU KNOW once you do something like move past some trigger. ROARRRRRR.

1:08 oh there's the fiend, doesn't look that scary but its all about the movements and what it does that is the scary part. Its like Zelda those ReDeads, they latch onto you make noises and drain your life quickly super scary back then.
That fiend is not bad, can be improved, can let the AI know close but do better.

1:17 I think the AI doesn't know what a Scrag is, so thats what they picture them as. AI got the point, I get the vibe but can do better making it an actual Scrag

1:19 this is typical Quake 1 map, where Quake Champions fails to resemble Quake 1, it needs dark spots, hiding spots, lots of spots for a player to hide in and what not. Quake 1 is full of that, and I love it. Also the architecture and that layout that is a Quake 1 type layout. It's probably the red base.

1:32, I like those Death Knights better than what Quake Champions has. These Death Knights look more like Quake 1 than what Quake Champions has as a Death Knight.

1:39 feels like the start map portals, probably picking easy right there

1:48 one underated thing they don't do in Quake Champions, to get Quake 1 vibes. The sky, the sky is something real OGs of Quake 1 notice, the sky in this AI, not the lightning but AI recognizes the sky is important part of Quake 1. Love the Quake 1 Purple sky. Lots of time grappling hiding up by the sky hiding the flag in maps like E1M2 blue base, wheres the flag carrier, gotta grapple the sky gotta check those 2 pillars, ok aint there time to check other places. Playing deathmatch on Start map, yep I'm at the entrance up top by the sky. We recognize the sky, not really noticing it but we notice it.

1:52 thats most likely the Start Nightmare portal area.

2:02 Chthon, not really but I get the Quake 1 vibe. Early Quake 1 it had a lot of community or expansion packs map packs. I remember the final bosses super fat and I think there was fat piglike boss. So this fits. I wouldn't that Chthon but close to Chthon in 2:02.
2:05 yep same, giant fat piglike looking boss, its making me remember that community or expansion pack monsters type vibe.

2:07 I'm guessing its thinking about QuakeWorld, TeamFortress Pyroman.

So honestly that AI was not bad, pretty on point for Quake 1 vibes. Even the music.

Sure is some text saying you can't afford to pay an actual artist.

Start hating AI art. Handcrafted masterpieces will live on.

Doubt that, not without a biological component.

And even if it could be sentient, that would be a super immoral and dumb thing to implement. Even you're unintentionally agreeing to that with the "better be nice" text.

Looks like Darktide
Bro, we got Quake 4 in the early years of the xBox 360. It was a good game with a horrible story. They need a wholeass revamp of 'back to basics'. New Doom did well because it recaptured the crown of brutally fast~paced FPS. For Quake to come back would mean making a new arena PVP. If ID did a 'campaign' game they would have to push that rock so far uphill that they would need to pass by the chances of Unreal Gold getting a remaster. You remember how rewarding it was to find those secret caves to upgrade your pistol in Unreal? We need that vibe if these kind of games want a comeback.

Edit/PS: Just to clarify my original gaming machine was a packard bell with the 4x turbo button and ran on DOS. Some games I played were Classic Concentration, Voltoid, Lost Vikings, Civ, Duck Tales, and Doom. I only experienced Quake and Unreal on disc. In my opinion, as far as the OGs go Doom is 1st in campaign, 3rd in PvP. Quake is 3rd in campaign, 1st in PvP. Unreal was the middleground.

Extra credit: Who else remembers Cyclones? In case you don't, instead of Demons or Aliens or Frankenstundeadborgs, Cyclones was just cyborgs. <3

Gotta love people with no actual talent using something that steals from people with actual talent to make crap like this.
