No, they just hated bigots like you who are on the wrong side of history and feel comfortable discriminating against people based on their religion.
We live in a diverse and multicultural world. Try being a decent human being and understanding that. Leave your closed minded intolerance in the stone age where it belongs.
"Boomer" has evolved from a literal term (the definition you provide) to a politically-charged one, basically meaning "anyone older than me whose politics involve a belief that misery builds character, which I perceive to be regressive." It very much carries an implication of insult, on the original definition lacked. In some circles this further got boiled down to "the previous generation is responsible for my problems."
However, when it came to video games, the rhyme "boomer shooter" was too catchy to ignore. Sort of like how "Metroidvania" refuses to die because it's way too cool. In this specific context the insult dribbles away, specifically because the literal baby boomers don't play video games. It started out as a term of PRAISE for GenX, before just entering common parlance as a more neutral term
It's z00mers calling stuff they don't understand well like that.
Sadly, some millenials play along (*cough* GG Man *cough*).
We need dumb art, its good that its dumb
Boomer on the internet means "older guys".
Boomer Shooter also implies "the FPS of the good ol' days" like Doom and Quake.
Then I nicknamed FPS like Goldeneye and Half-Life "Gen Xer Shooter" since these set up the stone to a new generations with a focus on narration, missions over pure gameplay while retaining elements from the previous gen.
PS: Metroidvanias don't make sense either since Castlevania stopped the igavania style since Lord of Shadows and Metroid has slown down a bit.
Gen X-ers made the popular 90s stuff, not "Baby Boomers".
Carmack, Romero, Miyamoto, Kojima, Stampers, etc, they all are "Gen X".
Half-Life is still a boomer shooter because GoldSrc is a reverse-engineered Quake engine and Quake, as we all know, is a boomer shooter.
Not just that half life is dreadful, Its only fun with sven co-op to play goofy suicide game with friends cause everything is jank and unstable. Its an ok game to laugh at how bad it is.
I can't believe websites all over the internet including wikipedia claim this is considered the best shooter ever made. The scientists all look like einstein and all sound the same. Quake tells a better story with wall decals than this does.
I just can't really understand it after about 20 levels of this, the enemies are terrible besides the proto fear replica soldiers. Blowing up their helicopter or a tank. It was well done from a military shooter perspective. But these inter dimensional aliens are not scary, cool looking, or make me feel anything. They just jump around and act annoying, and the infected scientists are no better. Then they got the huge invincible aliens that you just run from or die pointlessly yet again. And the forced jump trick spots, wow...
I mean is this just a gag among people to claim this is the best shooter of its time or something? What am I missing here how is this wonky checkpoint shooter the best? Why does cod get trashed all the time on pc forums, when its doing the same exact same as HL but with less glitches and actual exciting enemies? I really would much rather fight the most generic of soldiers than these silly aliens who don't even match System Shock 2 quality and I wasn't exactly a huge fan of xerxies. Still the infected areas in SS2 showed way more intricate attention to detail than HL.
Just my opinion I don't mean to anger HL fans I bought the game and an expansion and at the price they charge its a fair deal I'am not trying to tell people don't buy half life, or try it, or whatever. I just don't have much of an interest in finishing it or not.
